Hello all....not been on this site for a long time...
I am currently using my PC to watch movies etc on my HDTV in my sitting room. Specs are in my signature.
My wife is getting fed up of the sight of the huge PC behind the TV and the fans on the PSU and graphics card are a bit noisy.... I know I could replace internal components to quieten it down a bit but I want to make it small and it is time for a new PC anyway.
My specs are fine for what I need at the moment but I am stating to watch HD content on my PC and it starts to stutter on 1080p and above.
I would like to spec up a laptop to do this task but have no idea where to start. Should I be looking at offloading the High Def playback to the graphics card in a laptop or is that for desktop pc's only at the moment.
I guess for RAM I should be looking for 2GB minimum...
What graphics card??
I have about $1000.00USD to spend...approx £500.00 GBP. Could stretch to more but may have to do some favours for the wife(if you know what I mean!!)..
I'd also like to mention that although gaming would be nice.....I have a XBOX 360 and haven't gamed on my PC for over a year....

5.1 surround sound output would be nice.....SPDIF or Optical is fine...am also looking at 1TB NAS so HD size isn't too important....will stream over network..
