Laptop Case Mods

I don't seem to find much when it comes to looking for laptop mods. I'm in the process removing the Dell logo and replacing it with either my own or a VW logo (for my love of VWs). The logo will then light up aftewards (similar to apple laptops) I also might smooth it in as well.

Is there anyone else out there doing case mods on laptops? or even cooling mods since they get so hot?

my really hardcore mod is to let the dust build up inside my laptop so that it creates a blanket and heats up the laptop even more!

put a Mugen sticker on it so it "looks" fast... like those civics

I'm gonna pull the aluminum plate from behind the keyboard (if it isn't used for anything important) and then replace it with a smoked piece of thin acrylic and mount led's behind it to backlight the keyboard....

Be a mite careful, some laptops I've poked around in(older Dell business laptops, specifically) actually had a little heatpipe integrated into the keyboard. They appeared to use it as part of the cooling mechanism. I don't know if they've given up on things like that with newer models.

THis is a newer one and the keyboard doesn't appear to be integrated into the meager cooling system.... I just with I could drop some mightier fans or a cooper cooler with heatpipes into it but... such is life...

I like the light up keyboard idea. i've done it before on a regular pc keyboard with electroluminasent wire. Came out pretty cool. The only problem was that the power inverter wasn't very good. The first one literally caught fire on me. I'm glad i was there...because i leave my computer on all the time, the second one just died.

Here are the final pictures. I still need t reposition the VW logo. The original one came off when I pulled the mask off. The clearcoat was the cause.

That was the whole intent. The logo is vinyl so I can pull it off and put something else in.
