Laptop dead?? - Presario 700

My cousin has this laptop and he went to turn it on and all that happens is the light comes on, but no sound, no motor sounds like the hdd, no sight from the monitor or an external monitor. The battery seems to charge up now, but nothing happens but a green light after you press the button??

Any ideas???

I had a buddy with a gw solo 9300 that had a problem like this and I found the cmow battery and pulled it and it reset and started working again. This may have been hit by a power surge, but usually that does not allow the green light to come on at all.

Try pulling the battery out (as well as the charger lead), hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Replace battery, see if it works. This has worked a few times for me now.

Can also try disconnecting all external devices before holding the power button for 30 seconds and then restarting. By external devices, I mean power cable, mouse, internet cable, everything external.
