No heat or battery problems with my Compaq v2000z with a AMD Turion 64. I got the 12 cell battery and it runs all day. Problem with using the 12 cell battery on you laptop as it causes you knee to block the fan vent. They should have made the 12 cell run the full length of the computer, but I guess cheap is as cheap does. Most of the downtown areas in our county have free WiFi and the intergrated "G" picks them up great.

The 12 cell is great on a flat surface as it lifts the fan vent off the table and provides a comfortable typing angle.

PS Office Depot SUCKS at rebates!!!

I've been shopping the Dell outlet, phooey, all the systems I thought "looked" good turned out to only have 90 day warranty with the full 1 yr an extra $89, considerably unhotting any dealness.

how much heavier does the 12 cell make it? are we now in the 6 lb range?

here's another question to all you students, what's the min batter life that you're finding acceptable to be able to take notes in class? I can only guess that you need something on the order of 4 hours without it being a PITA.
