Laptop for photoshop CS4

Want a laptop for mainly CS4 and really only to view raw files from my camera so it would be good if it had a wide viewing angle ala IPS. I will use this mainly just for viewing my photos on the road and then when home it will be docked and used with my 22" monitor.

It would be nice if it could cost no more then $1000 and it does not matter if I have to go used. I don't care if it is a mac or PC as they both seem to handle Photoshop the same these days.

So yeah really important that the monitor on the laptop have wide viewing angles most of all.

Secondly must be able to handle light raw file conversion.

Are you looking for thin and light? Bigger or smaller screen? Do you need a discrete graphics card? Any particular features that this notebook must have?

Main things are viewing angle (meaning if I tilt my head a little up or down, left or right the image is not going to change in contrast, brightness, etc). A basic graphics card would be great, I am not even sure that photoshop is helped much by a graphics card these days is it? I think as much ram and processor for my price point is what I am after.

I can't really help you with viewing angles, but maybe one of the new Vostro (with the Core i processors) or something would be good.

That's okay, its kind of a tough call. Well I ended up with a Sony Vaio CW VPCCW21FX/W

It seems like the equivalent to the 13" macbook pro. The salesman at best buy was actually nice enough to take an open box 13 mbp and compare it side to side with the sony. He actually found the same desktop background as the mbp which really helped in the comparison. Believe it or not the sonys backlit LED looked better to my eye and his. While the graphics card does not have as much vram as I originally wanted it at least has a chunk of vram. The main ram is ddr3 which is leaps and bounds what I have had in the past using photoshop and there is 4gigs of it so can't go wrong there. As I understand it the 64 bit version of windows 7 uses all 4 as well and more efficiently then windows vista, so another bonus. Anyway I think this is a great alternative to the mbp and pretty much its equivalent (I think, the mbp nvidia 9300m does not say how much vram it has).

Your choice sounds decent.

The right answer is: any decent laptop...with an SSD. That will make the largest difference for performance of the Adobe suite.
