Laptop LCD knowledge required!

My laptop needs a new LCD, the previous LCD connected via a 14-pin connector, and what looks like a 2-pin power connector.

I'm having a problem at the moment because 14-pin LCD's are hard to find, all the modern LCD's are 20 or 30-pin. Is there a cable I can get to convert my 14-pin connector to a 20 or 30 pin connector?

Will I be able to display resolutions of 1280*1024 or 1400*1000?

doubt it, laptops are too custom made by each manufacturer

There is standardisation, the 14-pin connector in particular is old and I have found LCD's from different manufacturer's with the same connector.

Anyone with experience on working with laptop LCD's chip in?
