Latest Tomb Raider game a remake?

Hi all, is the Latest Tomb Raider a remake of the first Tomb Raider? I hope so! I remember playing that game with my Voodoo 1 card and loved it! If its a complete remake I am all over it! I downloaded the demo but its only 1 level and I dont remember it from the first game cuz I have not played it in over 7 years!

Its a wonderful remake of part one using the TR: Legend engine. If your memory is good regarding the first TR then you'll remember lots of stuff like the T-Rex, the Sphinx, St. Francis Folly, Colosseum, Atlantis...etc..in this remake. Its not a 1:1 remake however but what was done is they took the best of each level from part one and redesigned it beautifully to take advantage of the Legend engine (which is also a great game!).

I played the demo of TRA and really enjoyed it. I'll probably pick it up and was surprised how well it ran on my system.

This game kicks ass. Having forgotten most of the puzzles, its like playing a new game. It is as fun as I remembered. Really good and it looks SO much better this time.

The demo runs great on my Opteron @ 2.8Ghz, x850xt, and 1GB RAM.

Yeah, the minimum requirements were much lower than that, and I saw on another forum where someone said it ran fine with his Radeon 9600.

you know...they should do this with more older games. instead of ruining franchises by putting out crappy sequels, just remake the good games over with new technology but keep the core of the game the same thing that made it good.

This game is pretty sweet, but can get really frustrating at times. Some puzzles are just too long with no checkpoint so you have to do it over and over again if you make a mistake. Overall, it's really fun though.

Anyone playing this should have also gotten Tomb Raider Legends which was an excellent addition to the series.

I have em all and love em all. Its refreshing to see a remake of a great game. I remember playing the first tomb raider and thought the graphics were great for the time, then when I got my first Voodoo1 card and played it again in 3dfx I was blown away! Ahhh, the good old days. I wish they would remake the space quest series utilizing todays hardware. And a remake of Alone in the Dark would kick ass too!
