LCD Mod - Inverting Power supply

I'm just got an small LCD I'd like to use for a PC mod and its EL backlit rather than LCD backlit. Does anyone know where I can get or what is an Inverting Power Supply? I need one in order to power the EL (Electroluminescent) backlight. Thanks.

I'd be willing to bet that RadioShack would be able to order one for you, but it's going to cost you much more than just buying one that's made to run on 12v.

Well actually I need it to run on 5 volts. I'm guessing radio smack could order/find one too, but was wondering if anyone would know of anywhere else to get my hands on one.

How many amps?

Radioshack does have some decent inverters for about 15 bucks plus you get a free plug with it. They are just OK but it should work.

Amps (I) ...I'm not sure. All I know is +5VDC so far. I haven't actually received the LCD yet, so hopefully some paperwork will be with it. What I DO know is that I could use a 19-38CM2 inverter but I don't know wtf that is.

I plan on going to radio smack this week. Hopefully they'll know what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the links however does anyone know what it looks like or if its even something I can hook up myself? (I don't think that one link for fluorescent tubes will work) I'm no electronics wizard, so if it includes more than a resistor or 2, I probably will be overwhelmed.

Oh BTW, I went to Radio Smack and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Ok, I did a little more research and I figured out I need something like this: UK Website

What I said before wasn't quite accurate. I need an EL lamp inverter with these requirements: 19-38cm^2, Input V: +5VDC, Output V: 50 to 150VAC, R freq: 150 to 1000 hz. If anyone else knows where I can get one of these easily and cheaply, it would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a pdf with the specs for the different inverters from the link before. Has a compatatibility chart also. THe HVI-5 series are for EL backlights.
