ok well, after much searching, I have decided to scrap my previous LCD plans and choose from a different group of LCD's and was wondering what everyone here thought of the following monitors and which one I should choose based on picture quality, ghosting, and product reputation, since I know basically squat about any of that about these individual monitors other than the NEC which looked pretty nice when I saw one.

first
Rosewill R913E Black 19" 4ms LCD .294 pixel pitch.

next
Wise Wing W902DB Black 19" 8ms LCD .294 pixel pitch.

next
NEC Display Solutions 90GX2-BK Black 19" 4ms LCD .294 pixel pitch.

and finally
SAMSUNG 204B-Black Black 20.1" 5ms LCD .255 pixel pitch.

what do you guys think would be the best choice from this list mainly for someone who is ditching a CRT for a great gaming LCD for a dorm (trying to keep it under $400)

thanks in advance

Can your video card handle a 20 incher? If so, go with Samsung. NEC would be the next choice.

Of those options it seems that the Samsung is the only one capable of displaying 8-bit color (16.7 million colors). Which means the Samsung is the only one where the colors won't look like crap.

I don't know about the Samsung but the viewing angle is just way too narrow. 160 is just not wide enough so you can see an even brightness throughout the screen. When looking for viewing angle you should never go below 170. Dell's, Sceptre and Viewsonics offer as high as 176. You might want to check for other brands.

160 degrees is fine in my opinion. You get used to it fast. But yeah... you will have to sit directly in front (+/- 20 degrees) of it or the image quality will suck. It's really not that big of a deal unless more than 1 person needs to see the screen at the same time.
