Ask anyone who does graphics work or photo editing, where color accuracy is important if they would consider using a LCD. You will likely be laughed at. Want to venture a guess as to what they use at Pixar, ILM and pretty much all of the other CGI graphics workshops? CRTs.
Also, while the LCD proponents crow about 8ms response times (even though the LCDs aren't truly reaching that). Even the cheapest CRTs have response times of less than 1ms.
For the majority of average users who mainly use their PCs to web browse and send email, LCDs are great, they take up less space, they're lighter etc. But when it comes to image quality its no contest.
I'll buy an LCD when they offer:
Accurate color reproduction
No ghosting
The ability to use non native resolutions without issues
