That's because they are a multi-system operator. It's very difficult to merge all the different customer support and provisioning systems. That does not take away from how fast their internet is and how aggressive their upgrades are taking place to provide the best service to Comcast customers that they've come to expect.

Are you joking? You sound like some douchebag Comcast marketing rep. Comcast customer service is HORRIBLE. So I've come to expect horrible service from Comcast? Because that is what most people who actually have Comcast expect.

You really should do some research in market intelligence and specifically customer loyalty. The customer experience is a very important part of business and without customer loyalty (satisfaction), you're looking at worsening customer loss as more options become available to users. Eventually things like FIOS and U-Verse are going to become available in these areas over time. You think customers who've had a poor customer experience with Comcast won't jump ship? By then, you have a ruined customer image and you'll be in the exact same spot that Sprint is now. Sprint was good for a long time in the mid 90's, but they failed at the customer experience and now they're hurting from a poor customer image and customer loyalty scores in the gutter.

But then again, I know nothing about business.

FIOS aggregation bandwidth is going to get saturated as well as they add more customers. It's actually in comcast's best interest if the heavy user switch to FIOS.

Passive optical networks (PON) scale really well at the access layer but they still have to get to the aggregation/distribution layer and that's where the crunch will be.

Where would this saturation occur?

I did the same a year ago. It's not that great. Infact, I am not a fan of FIOS TV at all....

what's wrong with FIOS TV? I'm coming from Cablevision and FIOS is so much better that I purposely pay $15 per month more.

I am coming from Comcast....the on demand on FIOS is decent at best. Free movies are nonexistant, and when i stream a movie, it does that pixal mess once in a while. I never had that problem witm comcast. Also, sometimes, the picture just hiccups while I watch TV. It does not happen alot, but happens enough for me to notice and remember it.

Internet, on the other hand, it is pretty good.

The one thign I do hate about fios....that stupid STB they install. It adds about $10 a month to my energy bill.

For reference: We had problems with our service and they sent a technician out today to fix it.
Further information: Today is Thanksgiving.
Think about that for a bit.

When we had Verizon DSL over a year ago they would take weeks to send people over and they never worked any holiday or Sunday, and I cant recall being able to schedule a Sat. appointment either. Perhaps service has improved with the move to FIOS, but I doubt it.

What I like about comcast, is they change your service without approval, then when you call to have it fixed, they tell you the packages you had were at promo prices.

Prices that I have had since we moved into this house 4 years ago.

So now my bill is $30 more a month because they f-ed up on their end.

Comcast was great for me for the first year or so but that's around the time when I had some problems. One day I saw my bill and saw an extra charge for $10 - $15 on DVR, I called customer service (took about 30 minutes before I was connected to the right person) and complained that I didn't even have a DVR capable box so why am I being charged for it? They fixed the issue but then it popped up once again a few months later. This happened one more time so I got tired of it, canceled Comcast TV and switched over to DirecTV, couldn't be more happy with that decision. As for the internet, I'm stuck with Comcast because there's no other options. I can't really complain about it that much, it's been up all the time except for a few occasions. They've increased the speeds but I've noticed it's only temporary. When I download a large file, I'll see 1.2 - 1.5 MB/s download speeds for the first few minutes (burst) but then a large dropoff after that (around 300 - 500 KB/s). I would rather have a sustained speed throughout, I would love to have the option of Fios.
