Does any1 know if they are adding more content for L4D? If so this game should get the score it does because of the fact they will add more stuff and if valve don't, there will always be mods out for this which adds hours after hours of game play

You shouldn't buy a game based on mods or future potential content IMO, that's just a bad idea. And rating a game based on that content is even more stupid.
I don't play a single HL2 mod, and have only tried a few for a short while but none really grabbed me, but one thing I was excited about with HL2 was the fact that HL1 had some nice mods. Turns out HL2 didn't really get the same from my perspective.
That's not to say there aren't HL2 mods that some people enjoy, but just because one thing has good mods doesn't mean another will.

And yes, Valve has released content for previous titles, but some of them were woefully down on content in the first place (DoD:S), and for others the content has been quite slow to come and delayed for other things (such as any further TF2 updates, delayed due to... L4D).

So no, the game shouldn't get a score reflecting potential extra content or mods, it should get a score based on what's in the box.

It's like a game getting a good score cus they are ganna patch something that causes the release game to crash.

Honestly, playing with 4 people I know over vent, lanning with one of them, on expert, not that easy even doing just 2/5 of no mercy. Doing 5/5 would be more difficult and lengthier. It might not be serious sam difficulty but its pretty tough.

I was intrigued by L4D, but not interested, when I downloaded the demo. Now I almost want to buy it. I think it is worth the price; there are plenty of games selling well at that price which are half as well done as L4D seems to be.

I don't think the replay value will be as great as everyone says it will, and I am afraid that the game may be too short... The AI director is a cool idea, but there are only a few variables that it can control, pretty much:

1)Whether or not more weapons will spawn, and where.
2)When a new "surge" of zombies will attack.
3)When one of four "special" zombies will spawn.
4)When a "boss," such as the tank, will spawn.

I think it the special zombies are pretty cool, especially the witch and the boomer, and the fact that one of the "bosses" can come at any time is also cool. It means it is a true survival game; you can't really plan ahead or get ready, you just have to struggle to survive. I've only played on expert, and I like it. It's really is pretty damn hard.

The vs. mode doesn't interest me at all, it seems boring to me.

I probably won't be buying this until the price drops a little, or until one of my friends gets it, but I really hope that this game shows how much PC Gamers want a different kind of multiplayer game.

the problem i have with this game is its almost impossible to play without hitting your own teammate and even killing them trying to save him from hordes. most of the people online have no concerns of walking infront of another shooting and then making you feel bad for TK. often times they block a passageway only allowing him to shoot and everyone holding back in fear or blowing his head off. the least he can do is crouch so that a guy behind him can also shoot clearly.

That's where playing with friends comes in. And using voice comms so you can shout at people.

If you're close to a friendly, just melee.

...we have, and it works quite well... hence why he suggested it.

Yea you can melee pretty much melee every zombie except the boss zombies. When that many zombies rush me I only melee. Get's them all off you.

game is awesome

the demo was basically 1.5 levels long, and you get 20 of them with obvious possibility for expansion (whether official or community). Playing through on expert might have gotten easy for some with coordination in the demo, but surviving through 5 full length levels is going to take some serious teamwork, especially when the end of each mission has an epic fight sequence where you have to fend off hoard after hoard, a couple of tanks, and then a final, never ending hoard (which can include tanks) as you try to reach the final goal...

my biggest gripe is the darkness, its not the same complaint as Doom 3 - you can see things just fine, what I don't like is that the apocalypse should be able to take place on a bright and sunny day...it doesn't always have to be dark and gloomy and raining

Vs. mode is a blast, playing as the infected is pretty fun and there is a lot of strategy to be employed - its incredibly intense as the key is speed, so its not just a fight, but a race as well.

Replay value will always remain high thanks to Vs. mode, this game is better than TF2 in that it has a great multiplayer, but it also has a campaign that you can play through alone or with friends in co-op. The only area it lacks in that respect is it has a maximum multiplayer limit of 8...so there is still a reason to play TF2

Ok here is what I'm thinking will increase replayability. The game needs a base defense map. Where instead of trying to get from safe point to safe point, it's all about defending a last stand, similar to the section in Resident Evil 4 where you defend a house from ever increasing attacks from all sides. I think that would be epic.

I love this idea! That would be awesome. The game is already epic though. On the first campaign when that certain thing happen I was in awe!

Why are you comparing this to TF2 when L4D is nothing like it? WTF?

I played the full no mercy campaign last night, and the reviews are legit. L4D is extremely fun. In fact, I've played all the major releases over the past two months (Fallout, Farcry 2, Dead Space, Little Big Planet, World of Goo, Sacred 2), and L4d is by FAR the most fun IMO.

I don't understand people bitching about the replay value. TF2 had 6 maps at release and managed to stay fun for a very long time. Valve didn't release any custom stuff for what, maybe a year? Give it a chance people. I'll be playing this non-stop with my buddies as soon as I get off work.

they didn't ask 50 bucks for TF2. and this is when retail sales are at a record low.

10/10? Seemed good, but not that good from playing. $50 feels steep for what seems more like a Source mod when I think about what I got for the same price with Orange Box a year ago. Then again, a deal that good is pretty damn rare.

I have a hard time convincing myself it could keep me interested nearly as long as TF2 did.

i dont think its a 10/10 ..but..

i think that people are sort of unfairly judging the game, i mean sure its all subjective and i respect others opinions

but look at what valve DID accomplish, i see this as a first iteration of a very good idea

i can see much larger games spawned from the concepts in this game..

if i were to complain i would say A: they should have made the scenarios that come up even more varied, not just in the pressure you feel from the zombies, but i'd like to see the zombies employ more than just a couple strategies..the most common thing i see is boomer/smoker or hunter smoker..or sometimes even all 3

cool and all, but to me it seems like just a couple strategies that should have had about 10 others complimenting them..

what did they accomplish? it's not like this is the only co-op game out there.

Sounds like Starship Troopers.

Oh, so you're the guy. I heard there was like one guy in the US left on dial up, once I went Cable.

valve fanboys. no way is this game a 9 or 10. maybe a 6 or 7.

I'd give it an 8. It's well implemented and very fun. Runs great on older hardware. Easy to get into but needs teamwork for harder difficulties. The lighting in the game is great, especially for how old the engine is. The only thing that kills it for me is the lack of content right now. They said 10 NEW weapons but hell, they probably meant the regular guns in the game. We need some good stuff like flame throwers and someone to have a portable minigun like Jesse Ventura in Predator. Maps and weapons please. I am a Valve fanboi btw.

Hmm PC or 360...

Tired of DRM and worrying about other people upgrading THEIR PC to play games with me... hmm... yes I know people who can't run HL2 well... much less this game...
