He was one the classiest celebrities out there and an inspiration for millions of STEM grads. Many of our advances in technology are because of his ability to portray and humanize a utopian future. The world would be a much better place if we had even a handful of other people like him.

Holy shit. He'd completely given up by then, hadn't he?

hey a paycheck is a paycheck, what's strange is that that video is strangely compelling. Yes I want to look at the art from all the great masters on my 480i rounded corner tv from 1986.

No. I've seen gifs and stuff around here, but that's about it.

I thought you supposedly like movies.

Well, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) was great! Sooo many movies after that one directly ripped-off the Khan character with their own villains. In those knock-off movies, the villain usually doesn't have a good reason to act that way toward the protagonist. Kirk and Khan have a history from an episode of the original series. Khan is the way he is because he's a genetically enhanced ("eugenics" was the closest thing to genetics in the '60s show) superhuman with a very good reason to hate Kirk.

Anyway, Star Trek II focuses heavily on the friendship between Kirk and Spock and it's probably the best Star Trek movie.

If you ever do watch an episode of the original series, watch "Space Seed." Then watch Star Trek II.

He was just making the same joke you did on Facebook when you implied that he was best known for directing "Three Men and a Baby." Now you are just as gullible as our sister-in-law.

Yeah, I've always meant to watch all of the films but never got around to it. I think I've seen some of the whale one, but that's about it from the original cast. I saw the Borg one with Picard which I remember liking (was ages ago though) and the first of the two new Abrams ones, which I did not really like that much.

Looks like the Blu-ray set of six films is only $45 right now, so I'll just hop on that. I have zero interest in watching the TV show.

You should at least watch TOS: Space Seed, and ST2: Wrath of Khan. And TOS: The Changeling, to see NOMAD :

Actually, whats wrong with you ?? Just watch all of TOS!!! At least the first two seasons.

Yea, those are good but I would have to throw in "The doomsday machine, Amok time, and Balance of terror" as must-watch. The re-mastering with modern CGI effects makes them even way better IMO.

Yeah, I was going to start listing episodes then thought why not just watch them all. But add The Enemy Within and Mirror Mirror. Especially Mirror Mirror for evil goatee Spock. And What Are Little Girls Made of to see Kirk rape Lurch.

I don't know guys, it's $120 for the original series; seems steep for something I have no real interest in. I think I'll just stick with the movies. Thanks for the suggestions though.
