So whats your favourite class and why? What do you do on the field? Do you agree that theres less skill and more randomness involved in those massive 64 player wars? Whats the best map?

Ive just recently discovered the medic class, i already unlocked the L85 but never bothered with it much, until today ive always been a PKM support guy. But WOW the medic is amazing!! I get points for reviving, healing and KILLING, i kill more with the medic than i do with the support guy, that L85 kicks. I have to hang back though, not rush in first and get hit by artillery/C4/claymore/3 guys hiding behind corner, rushing in 2nd or 3rd is fine

This was on a 24 player map, i just cant do the same in 64 players! its just total mayhem, far less skill involed there, throw random grenades about, rush in and hope theres not like 10+ people waiting to maul you. Plus theres ALWAYS a commander and hes ALWAYS dropping goddamn artillery strikes.... hate them so much...

Bleh. Im stickin to <64 from now on. Anyways my fav map is.... STRIKE AT KARKAND! Its totally awsome, battlefield 2 needs more urban maps with no planes/choppers and a small combat field. The other urban maps have too much open space and ground to cover between checkpoints, SAK is perfect. Hate to say it but some on those n00bs that went around ramming the jet into tanks etc have become pretty good piolets, jet map + good piolet= me leave game.

So what about you guys? What do you do and why?

Check this out too if you havent already, it was in another thread a week or so ago, its the funniest BF2 movie ever!! Really! ---> Really really really really funny!!

I mostly play sniper and anti-tank, but I tend to play all classes.

As for best map, that's easy, it's Mashtuur City 64.

I play Medic. Used to be SpecOps but I never utilized the C4 and beyond that, Medic is basically the same. Same sprint, no body armor, plus the guns are pretty good, especially the second-tier unlock G36E. My best friend and I play together a lot and he's Support so we complement each other nicely. If we're careful, we've essentially got unlimited ammo and health. That's the start of a great squad.

As for my favorite map, it's Warlord from SF without a doubt. Second favorite is probably Ghost Town, also from SF. Karkand is pretty high, as well. I don't like many of the vanilla maps; too much armor and jets for a ground pounder like myself.

If you really hate choppers/jets, just use Support and AA vehicle. It's one of my favourites, shooting down air jockeys.

Yeah I don't play much of anything outside the urban maps. Ghost Town, Warlord, Karkand, and a few others. I can't stand the constant air and armor... the defense weapons against them are too weak.

I'm going to go play it a bit, then I'll maybe have some more comments.

I typically play Spec Ops and on occassion Medic or Sniper. I like Spec Op class because I can destroy the enemy's satellite/UAV/artillery, which puts a hamper on the opposing commander's strategy. The 2nd tier SCAR-L unlock is awesome too. What I like to do at the start is quickly get in a jet or heli and fly on the edge of the map to the enemy's base, then lay low and take out their assests, while calling in a supply request to the commander for more C4.

On the field I basically try not to get owned by armor or jets, which is less of a problem on maps like Karkand.

I just got Special Forces so I'm gonna check that out in a bit.

Medic because you get to heal, revive, shoot people, have pistol and grenades, and so on. It's a fun class to play.

I like the sniper class and spec ops. I play alot of the classes really just depends on what we need. If I can find a good squad I play what we need if there are no good ones I'll snipe or take out armor with spec ops or AT.

I like to play karkand, sharqi, mushtaar and sung stalemate.

I don't have a favorite class

I play medic class out of necessity when groundpounding. I play Assault/Support when I want to own, and there's plenty of medics around. I play sniper when I'm commanding. I play any class while Pilot (the vehicle I use the most), and I use engineer when I'm using Armor. When I see armor, I go w/ anti-tank.

Really depends on situation.

After unlocking every weapon, the best weapon for medic is G36E, MG36 for Support, any autosniper for sniper (i hate teh others, but for the bolt action ones, L69A1), DAO-12 hands down for the anti-tank, and the default weapons for every Spec-ops class, and the default pump shotguns for every engineer (except MEC, which where I prefer the jackhammer over the default). For assault, any gun I found is fine. The f2000 is nice though.

One of my least fav maps are urban maps like karkand mashtuur. I'm strickly a vehicle guy. I hate running around. Feel so naked.

I prefer to play support all the time, I have the MG36 (3rd level) unlock, but I mostly stick with the PKM. If I need accuracy, popping one shot at a time provides it. I think I like support best because with anything else, I run out of ammo too often, at the most inopportune times (and I guess I stink at changing weapons, so I die).
But, since the PKM is usless against armor, far too often I am forced to play AT. I don't seem to be coordinated enough to use C4 when a vehicle is moving, without being spotted, so special ops doesn't work for me. I have the DAO-12, so I can defend myself somewhat if the enemies are not too far away.
As for maps, my favorite is a CTF 16 player version of Sharqi, that has no vehicles at all. I can stick with support all the time, and you really get the feeling of ground combat, street fighting block by block. No grab the flag and jump in a buggy and capture the flag in 10 seconds. It takes two minutes of running/walking to cap the flag, making it a pretty satisfying accomplishment.

I play sniper and thats about it now. I cant stand getting killed every time you enter a densely populated area, even if you do end up getting a few points for it.

Can you kill things? Every time ive been hit by a sniper out of nowhere i run for cover throw down a medpack and continue on my merry way. I tried being a sniper but everyone just did the same as me and headshots are too difficult. So i gave up....

Engineer mostly. Hiding AT mines and fixing tanks is huge. I've also played a fair bit as sniper, mostly if I'm feeling lazy though. stats

ya i totally agree. fixing tanks for the team does a huge huge favor for the team. When I'm engineer, I just hop onto those small transport car/jeep/hmvee things, and become a mobile fix station.

I love medic. It's the most well rounded position... sure, you have no armor, but worst case scenerio, you run off and heal yourself, then run back and flank someone.

The only thing that sucks is that you are USELESS against any and all vehicles, unless you can get a clear shot through on open window on transports.

On SF (which is SOOO much better than regular BF2) I can do well with sniper/assault/spec ops because I love zip lines/grapples. Anyone who is a fan of Karkand needs to get SF and play "Warlord". It totally changes your perspective. It's close range/around the corner fighting like karkand, but it's much more fast paced and a smaller map (with just as many cap points). Imagine playing the 16 player size Karkand with about 7 flags, and the ability to get on any roof. Awesome.

Support 64man servers.

I don't think I understand how you can say that there's more skill involved on smaller servers. On 64man servers it takes hella tactics to get behind enemy lines and distupt what's going on. I have tried 32 and 24 man servers and all it turns into is the same guy TKing so he can stay in the 1 tank for the whole game racking up all the kills. In 64man servers I find the multiple tanks/APCs tend to balance each other out more. Also, for people that play 64man maps on smaller servers everyone gets into armor and no one plays on the ground.

Also, in 64man servers you get more variety of kits. In a 32man kit everyone plays a medic because after killing 3 or 4 people you are home free to wherever you were going. In 64man servers there's actually a need for engineers, support, assault etc.

And ya, Warlord is a pretty fun map, but damn, that map rapes my puny computer to 5 fps

What unlocks do you guys like?

I currently got two accounts since I don't play enough to rank up a ton... I don't care about my rank, I just want a lot of weapons unlocked so I can compete.

On one I have G36C, SCAR-L, PKM, and L85A1. Other one has G3, F2000, G36C and possibly the L85A1. I should've planned it out better and not have any overlap. I was thinking of starting a 3rd account to unlock the classes I rarely play like Antitank, Sniper, and Engineer. Is this worth doing at all? I'm not sure if the unlocks for those classes are much better than the standard weapons they get. I will unlock the G36E for the medic with one of my current accounts on my next rank up. So I think I pretty much have the majority of the good weapons. Is the tier 2 sniper any good?

I mostly play Assault, Medic and Anti-Tank, with some occasional SpecOps thrown in for good measure.
I like playing, but the server browser is an utter pile of crap, I get either servers that have 0 ping time or have 2-3000 ms and requires me to reping everything to get an accurate ping time.

You could get to 8,000 points in 3 or 4 weeks and have all but 4 unlocks (including the SF unlocks)

I thought about making multiple accounts for that, but I think it's stupid to decide on a class based on what you have unlocked and less on what you want to do right then and there, or what your team needs.

If it gets really close on a map, then more people should switch to medics to keep tickets from going away, but classes like assault should be used less because you shouldn't charge into battle. If you only have the assault upgrades and no medic upgrades, then you might get stuck with a weapon you don't like.

I mostly play Medic, however I switch it up with Anti-Tank and Engineer depending on what is needed to best assist my team.
