sigh, the 51 ford F1 near me is for sale now. I want, but I have enough projects atm? I have no idea what it's worth either. They are asking $9k. It's kinda rough, which is part of the charm.

My Dad had two 1952 Ford pickups. Man I really wish i had one of those. He restored them for us but then when he sold his restoration shop to retire (around 30 years ago) he sold the trucks, the mustangs, the Mercury, and everything thing else he had.

I'd love to own a 50's ford but my '65 treats me well, doesn't need smog and is a cool fun truck to drive. Gets a load of attention too.

My old roommate has about 10 model T's. Some of them are trucks. Trying to convince him to get a couple of Model A's just so I can cruise around in one.

Herm,

Let's see pictures of the truck you restored. Now that I know how much work a frame off restore is I would like to see yours.

White,

Damn, that is a clean truck, including the chrome. Nice! What does it have under the hood.

I almost bought a 51 Ford. Then realized that I just like the look of a 41 or 46 Chevy better. The 41 ford that I got has very similar lines to the 41 and 46 Chevy and I jumped on it.

ISA, 9K looks like it could be a good price for that truck. Depending on what shape the engine is in. At one point in the process I wanted to get a truck that looked like that do drive around. As you say kind of rough, but that is the charm. One thing is that parts are available for those trucks. Kind of difficult to find parts for mine.

Fog,

In my journey for the truck I saw some old time cars/trucks from the 10s and 20s. Looks like they would be fun to drive, but not so much to own. Lots of maintenance required. Your roommate must have money.

He has like twenty cars or something by now...and a train.

Its not my truck, its my fathers. Somehow I don't have any pics of it, so here is his award winning century wooden boat that was my grandfathers, and then my fathers project.
my family has a history of multi generational restorations.

It is so fucking cool to drive this truck. It showed up last week and it needs a little bit of work so I have been driving it just as needed, take it to the mechanic, take it to get get tires and take it to AAA to get it registered. The registration is fun. Here is CA you do not have to smog a vehicle it it is older than 1975. However you have do have to take it to the DMV, the CHP or a certified inspector so they can verify the truck. I took it to AAA and the guys asked me where is the VIN. Hell, I don't know, but here is the truck. So I had to come home and google where is the VIN on a 1941 truck. Took a bit and I found it. The tires of course had to be ordered so next weekend will be new tires and get it registered. Then I will drive it a bunch. I can't wait to get rid of the bias ply tires.

The thing is, I really do not care what people think about me. I dress for comfort and not for looks. But it is cool to see people give you a thumbs up as you drive by. I was at a stop light and a couple guys on bicycles rode by and one said in the window "Nice truck". My son is into the truck and it will be fun on Sunday to take him to Home Depot. My wife will be much happier when I get the seat belts installed.

Who needs seatbelts when you have a right arm?

looks awesome, though. Love the wheels.

Herm, nice boat. That is cool that you guys restore things like that and keep it in the family.

I finally got the truck registered today so I feel a lot better about the truck now. In CA when you register and out of state vehicle you have to bring it in so that they can see the VIN. I brought it in to AAA and they asked where is the VIN. I had no idea. Next time I went back I knew where the VIN was, but there was a problem. The VIN is on 3 places on the truck and they are all stamped onto the frame. One is in the engine department. One is under the cab and one is under the bed. The VIN in the engine department has a couple of numbers that where scratched out and unreadable. You can tell that many years ago something was attached to the frame and scratched out the twp numbers. AAA would not accept it and they sent me to the CHP. The only appointment was Tuesday. I drive it there and he is checking over the truck finally issues a new VIN number. Today went to AAA and finished the registration. They even gave me plates. I did not have any plates so I was always worried about getting pulled over. Now I can drive it legally. Today while driving it I got 3 thumbs up.

I also got new tires on it because it had old bias ply tires and I had no idea how old they were. It does ride better now too. I had the white letters put on the outside so kind of mimic white wall tires.
