I'm debating whether or not to get this case with a 120mm blow hole on the top or just a standaard one.

The price difference will be $50. Can anyone recommend either solution? I plan on OC'ing my 3500+ winnie and getting an SLI setup with one of the mobo's that's non ASUS as well as a pair of 6800 gt's. I may decide to go the water cooling route in the future.

Thanks.

duuuh... *smaking forehead*...

Honestly, unless you have MAJOR heat issues, I wouldn't cut into the case... I'd replace the fans with higher CFM models first.

thx, anyone with the blow hole on the top that can attest to significant heat reduction? Also, anyone have the PCP 510 SLI fitted into the 1000 or 1100 case?

The dimensions of the 510 SLI are the same as the 510 ATX Deluxe (I checked PC P & C's web site for the specs) so you will be OK. I mounted a 510 ATX Deluxe in my V1000 about two weeks ago and the fit is perfect.

Heres' the link to the spec page for some of the 510s' including the 510 SLI:

My V1000 DOES NOT have the blowhole on top. Unless you are seriously overclocking with water-cooling I don't really think that you "need" the blowhole. Unless you're turning the (120mm) fans WAY DOWN to reduce noise the airflow through the case combined with the open mesh on the front and back of the V1000 should be sufficient for cooling.

Keep in mind that the V1000 was not designed as the quietest case around (if you want more quiet from a case try the V1100). The V1000's "mesh screen" design allows a lot of noise leakage from the (stock) 120mm 72CFM ADDA fans. Getting a V1000 with an additional 120mm fan blowing up will just exacerbate the noise.

I just replaced the front 120mm ADDA with a 120mm Vantec Stealth. The Stealth is rated at 53CFM at 1,500 RPM (28 dBA) and I am also installing a VL System LIS2 Premium for temperature-controlled fan control and monitoring duties. My system should be "Cool N' Quiet" now.

Check out the VL LIS2 Premium in Silver. Its' also available in Black:
