Did you read the article?
"Unfortunately, solar and wind cannot be used as industrial-scale transportation fuels unless they are used to crack hydrogen from water via electrolysis. The electrolysis process is a simple one, but unfortunately it consumes 1.3 units of energy for every 1 unit of energy it produces. In other words, it results in a net loss of energy. You can't replace oil - which has a positive EROEI of about 30/1 - with an energy source that actually carries a negative EROEI."
First plant fully functional according to their website.
Anything to Oil
Part #2
Sounds promising, but need new updates (and probably investment)
Biomass energy is nothing new because it has been utilizes in every corner of the earth.
New York have several solid waste incinerator to energy management systems that produce such an insignificant amount of energy for state consumption (it main purpose is to reduce the waste volume/land fill). Therefore it would require much more waste than what we produce.
Fuel efficiency and consumption control is about the only thing that might save our ass, because it would buy us a few years to develop a more sustainable fuel source.
So enjoy what we have now, and wait for the arsenic and acid rain to come when coal power comes back to fashion and biomass come online.
