Limited or no connectivity

NIC: Intel Pro/Wireless 2200

Okay, I've just now all of a sudden started getting the "limited or no connectivity" message when trying to connect to my wireless router.

I have done these steps already (not in this order):

1. Restarting Computer
2. Uninstalling NIC drivers and reinstalling them
3. TCP/IP Fix
4. Setting a static IP (which works but can't ping anything)
5. Testing wireless card in Linux (FC6) which still works like a charm
6. Disabling firewall
7. Checking for correct WEP settings/key on the router and windows

So I'm able to get an IP from DHCP in Linux and ping and surf to my hearts content with the wireless NIC but I can't do anything in Windows anymore and aboslutely nothing has changed. I just enabled the card to use it wirelessly and it hasn't worked when it was not more than a few days ago. I've not installed anything that would conflict with the card in anyway.

The other computer using a wireless NIC on my network is still able to connect with no problems to the router with the exact same configuration also.

Is there some other tricks I could try here? Otherwise I'm going to format.

I have seen some glitches in HP laptops where if you enable the wireless card via hardware switch from within windows it will give you the same error. It had to be on before loading windows. Also a restart wouldn't fix it but, only a cold boot. I doubt that's it but good luck! (PS: This occured on laptop sold around christmas last year, various models)

Unfortunately it isn't the keys! I wish it was that easy. I'll try a cold boot and if that doesn't work it looks like I may just format. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I would try breaking the encryption on your other laptop and reconnecting just to double check your encryption key. Next I would uninstall, power off, then power back on laptop and reinstall drivers. At some point you could also try resetting the router just to make sure it's not a glitch killing your access.

Fixed that for ya.

Just because you connect/associate/"connect" to an access point does not mean you have security/keys setup correctly.

Essentially (and I know you know this nmeaver) you can associate with the AP and have layer1/2 connectivity, but everything you send is in japenese and the AP expects english. So no talkie-talkie-for-U

qft. ive made service calls to two people over the last week specifically for this. they didnt have their keys and settings matched between the AP/router and wireless device. simple mistake when youre new to it, or trying to type in random letters and numbers.

Well, it is now working. I have no clue why. The cold boot didn't work and when I got back from class today I booted up again and it's working. I really don't get it at all Lol and nothing in the event logs seems to point to anything either. It's a mystery for now, I guess.

Thanks again for all the tips guys, I'm sure they'll come in handy someday.
