yeah scrolling down the ah items when theres a long list, the client freezes up for a few secs. i think its downloading the item list or something.
The AH would be better if there weren't so many people using it. This is what my typical experience is like in IF (even if I'm not going to the AH).

Get off the tram/leave the mage area (if I teleported in)
Head towards the AH/Bank area
Within sight of the AH/Bank area, begin to lag
Within 20-30 yards of AH/Bank area, game freezes for 30-60sec
Players appear and I have control over my character again (albeit laggy)

They should move the bank to the opposite side of the forge - there's just too many players in that area. The other option is to open an AH in stormwind and have it linked to the IF one, but I'm not sure if they'd do that or not.

No server issues on Gorfriend either..
meduim/low pop server

the problems are all on the "lemming" servers... where people are too stupid to move to a lower population server... there are 80 servers out there and some are barely used...
its the players own fault for overstressing the pop on those servers..

My server was low and now it's barely medium. It's not just the population. My server was one of the ones singled out in the last announcement as having problems. Yesterday it was pretty weird. Everything seemed ok until you did certain things. For example, my pet died and in reviving it, the spell cast went off fine but it took almost a minute for the pet to appear. Later on when I died, I was able to return to my corpse. I hit accept to revive, but it took over 2 minutes before it happened. Both of these were obviously server side problems due to what happened after the "lag" ended.

The only time I get lag at IF is Saturday and Sunday nights when the server population is medium. The rest of the week the population is low. My wife and I play on Stonemaul and Bronzebeard.

I've heard great things about WoW, don't know much about Lineage II, but the graphics in it look really good. Do you sell items on Lineage II? Like in an auction house? What are the main goals of Lineage II? What all can you do? What about WoW? They both look like really expansive games, just not sure what direction they are geared for, would like some opinions... Thanks.

Tim

After i quit FFXI i went back to Eve-Online. Prior to FFXI I played my old account of DAoC. I also beta tested Lineage and it was all the same repeatative crap, which im sure WoW is (im assuming here ofc) Beat a monster, it drops loot, pick up, gain exp, next target. Sorry, but thats all the same to me and gets old super fast.

I won't try and convince you, but MMORPG's really depend on WHO you play with, not WHAT game you play. Each game has a tone of repeatativeness in it, but if you play with close friends from the past or real life friends, it makes the game 100% better. I LOVED FFXI, until my friends stopped playing, then I noticed its dullness.

I play Eve-Online because its an amazing space game, the graphics are fvcking sick and its very well-rounded. You can play this game in single mode or with others. Either way its good. The learning curves takes time, and there is a lot to get used to. There are no levels or experience to gain. Just real-time skill learning (which many think hinder new players to compete with old timers). However many new people still sign up and play... I'll tell you one thing, best game to play under any 'influence'

danny~!

Dude EVE is worse than L2 what kinda crack are you on... its one of the least successful MMOs of all time.
I wouldnt be surpised if it goes belly up like Earth and Beyond and Motor City Online...

talk about mind numbingly boring and you think WoW was boring?

fly for 2 hours.... mine for 4-5 fly back for 2 hours... repeat and hope you dont die

No thanks Ill stick with Freelancer for space games they dont translate well into MMOs..

WoW is not a mind numbing game it stays fun to the top levels.. always something fun or new to do.

And yes I played Eve in beta and release hated it both times.. but my guild played it so I had to go ..
same with L2.. bad bad bad game

Well, you may be speaking for most people, but not for me when you say that how much you enjoy an MMORPG depends almost entirely on the people you play with and not the game. 20 people + you being frustrated and angry is not more enjoyable than you enjoying yourself and wishing more of your friends played.

In some/most MMORPGs, having no one you like to play with CAN result in not enjoying the game, but that is often a function of the game and not the people.

512mb - I'm planning on doubling it and running dual-channel, but I'm waiting on prices to drop a little first.

Going to 1GB will make an amazing difference. I upgraded a little while ago and running to the AH on a saturday night went from a 30 second freeze to a little stuttering.

Same here, went from 512 to 1GB and everything is so smooth now.

If you knew anything at all about Eve you would know that the first couple months, eve wasn't the greatest of games. It has soooo evolved since then, and the game isn't all about flying and mining. That is literally 1 of so many other aspects you can do. A lot of people in our corp end up leaving Eve, going out to play something 'better'. So many ppl have returned because in the END (yes, end game) pvp in eve is, hands down, better, more fun, and more involved. To each his own, but know what you're saying before you bash eve.

A week ago or so I looked for a freebie offer for Eve......you know, to test drive it for awhile. Couldn't find one. I would like to try it again (played the beta) but I ain't gonna lay out $$$$$ to see if I like it.

I just started playing Lineage II about 3 weeks ago and I love it. I played the WoW beta and didn't like it much. It seemed a little to cartoonish for me.

Lineage 2. I've played it since the original open beta in Korea. I'd wait however. There will be a 3rd expansion pack (free for all L2 subcribers) and it's much easier for first-time players to play L2 in chronicle 3: the rise of darkness.

I've tried WoW beta, and it wasn't my cup of tea.

It really depends on what you like. L2's all about castle sieges, clan/alliance warfare, etc. It does take FOREVER to level up in L2. But that's the thing. There's always something to do in L2, sometimes too many things to do. There's way too many goals to accomplish.

The politics system in L2 is probably the best i've ever seen in any game for that matter.

A lot of people say L2 sucks because they've only tried the "Prelude" expansion pack during open beta.

TONS of things have changed. North America L2 is currently running the 2nd expansion pack, and it's great! The game gets better and better with every expansion pack (which comes out every 6 months or so months. I believe a total of 10-15 expansion packs are planned. all are free with subcription).

I'm on the kain server.

and the hunched over running with a stick up your ass
and repetitive outfits and no animations arnt cartoonish?
that game not only played bad but looked bad too...
my Quake3 toon had more detail than those...

L2 is nothing but a grind for the sake of grinding...
by the time you hit 20 youll be ready to cry its so mind numbing..

as for castle seiges.. forget it if you are just starting not gonna happen.. you need to be max level for this to even be plausable..

unless your a Korean or other Asian and like thier habits and cuture stay clear...

this game is set up for those Korean kids that never leave thier computers (to the point they die) and can kill US Games in days.... so its made super super hard to keep them playing for years....

The grind isn't that bad compared to EQ. I think EQ's grind is worse than L2.

As for castle sieges, the game early on isn't about castle sieges at all. There's raid bosses for the lower lvls and pvp'ing during lower lvl's is actually a lot better than in the higher lvls due to the lesser penalty when dying during the low lvls.

as for Wow, I actually like what blizzard has done with the graphics engine. And the "Cartoony" feel to it fits the scheme of WoW. It's just that WoW isn't my style aha.

well, then again, i am korean :Q

wow.. you think EQs grind is worse? i can hit L65 in EQ in under 8 days played these days...

you cant even get to L30 in 8 days played in L2 .. the grind is super super slow... try doing L50+ in L2... that was the longest most hair pulling boring event I have ever done in my life.
I play to have fun not to work.... L2 and Eve for that matter are more work than fun...
