Hey. I recently purchased a new laptop and have hooked up my two pcs with a wireless router (Linksys). My internet and email connections work normally, but I am having some issues with downloading larger files. Basically what happens is that the progress meter stops increasing after a certain point and the speed readings stop updating. While the download sits in this "paused" mode, I can still access the internet and email regularly. I gave Linksys a call and the rep told me to do the following,
1. In the properties section of my TCP/IP settings change the IP adress from automatic to manual and input the IP address assigned to the computer. Also he told me to input a subnet mask and a defualt gateway value.
2. Change the DNS server settings to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3
3. Change the DMZ setting in my router settings screen to the IP adress except replace the last number .10 to .101
Unfortunately this problem is still recurring. I have hardwired my laptop for comparison and do not have this issue when it is connected right to the cable modem. I also have a desktop that is connected to the router via CAT5 and it has this issue as well.
Thanks for the help,
George
