Linux - KDE Question

Is there a way that I can change the trash can icon in KDE with out installing a theme. I found that if I log in as root I can change the icon to a new trash can icon, but when I dump something into the trash can the icon no longer changes. Does anyone know where I can specify the icons that the trash can uses?

Not optimal solution:
you can replace icons in ~/.kde/share/icons/_used_theme_/_size_/filesystems [trashcan_empty.png, trashcan_full.png]
It's probably /usr/share/icons/... if using default theme. Or just search for mentioned files.
