I need to really improve on my linux skills .. it's been so long..
Try going to /etc and looking at the file passwd ...
This should have a list of users:
user: Password:useridnum:groupidnum:username:homedir:shell
on the system I have access to, the password is masked with a single x..
and the username is blank. You can modify this file to change these attributes about a user ..
Try removing the entries for the old user if they exist .. remove the home dirs for the user as well .. or you can modify this entry and recreate the directories .. of course you will also have to manually set up their account configuration.
I'm sure there are lots of other ways, probably better ones too, but I think this will get the job done.
I editted this because I learned that:
userassword is not the same as user: password ... those darn facial expression characters :|:Q:disgust::frown:
