Load temp on Barton 2500+

after running Far Cry for about half an hour an the CPU temp reads 60C ....is it normal?? .... not using Artic silver ...just the thermal pad that came with the HSF

thats a little high. put some AS on there.

It's ok as long as you are overclocking and raised the core voltage. Honestly anything under 65C under full load is acceptable.

thats what I thought ..... earlier today tried running far cry with erery thing turned on high @ 1024 * 786 and 15 mins in to it the computer rebooted with a beep from mobo suggesting that the temp was high

that is correct sir .... I think the thermal pad is not cutting it

It would take off the residue that it would leave behind. Try using a razor blade or a credit card to take off the thermal pad.

You are bound to scratch or gouge the heatsink if you use a razor. I've been using Goof Off & Brake Cleaner for years to clean residue off of heatsinks.

I had the side panel removed and there was no exhaust fan.... I closed the case and isntalled an 80mm exhaust fan and the load temps have dropped down to 54 C ... I guess I forgot how importent the air flow is in a case ... thanx again guys

You remembered to apply only a paper thin coating of thermal grease right? Too much thermal grease is a common mistake and increases temps by upto 10C!!

no .... stuck with the thermal pad that came with the HSF .... I am planning to remove the thermal pad and use artic silver in a few days
