You have two options:

1. Sell him the gear ..... like you said you were going to in the first place. Next time, think twice before closing a deal with some one (or at least before giving your word). I know it sucks, but you initially said you would and therefore you should.

2. Keep your gear and tell buddy that life sucks and he should get a fvckin helmet.

If it were me ... I'd go with option one. As far as I'm concerned, you agreed to sell it to him and that is that.

Yes, I was. I was selling it for 50% off retail $ because he begged for it. 2 days ago that stuff was FS, but now I just realised that I'm losing $250.

that's very bad trading practice... it's not his fault you agreed to the deal... now you're on my DNT list

You made a offer. You either become a real man and a man of honour, take the loss and gain a noble name and reputation that will get you further in life. Or you let your selfishness overcome you, you possess your property, ruin your reputation and lose honour. That, I'm afraid, won't get you further in life. And the goods you're trying to hold tight too may with some invisible force disappoint you. So, you know what is right, do it!

I didn't want bad to happen as I am sorry for this and I came here for advice. If I'm under pressure I will sell it to make good. Guys, I'm honest. I know that by posting this nobody here would understand me and I'd jsut lose respect. On top of that nobody is giving me any support. I truly feel sorry for the guy but I had changed my mind. He didn't tell me that he sold his components to a friend and this deal with me is a must. It's easy to say I'm an @$$hole but if it were your $250, would you forgive yourself?

Care to explain why Microsoft is doing so well then?

List your parts and how much you listed each for and maybe we'll understand. If they're 50% off retail, thats not exactly the best price unless you sold them to him new. THats a good price for used, but not the craziest lowest possible price. My friend often sells his old parts at 50% off the lowerst legit pricewatch price.

Do you trade often in the Forsale/Trade forum? Once you say the deal is done, its considered bad practice to back out of a deal. I've finalized deals and then received offers for more money, but I've always sold to the person I finalized the deal with.

It happened on a different forum but since ATOT is my home, I came for support. I don't want to get technical but it was an AMD based CPU, ABIT motherboard and OCZ RAM. All 2 weeks old and latest from its respective manufacturers.

Selling price was $220, now add $250 to that and pretty much go figure out what the parts where.

Well, you're certainly not making it easy to garner any support from me. Good luck, but I'm pretty sure you've added yourself to the DNT list of many members. I was going to offer my support and help, but I don't really feel like it anymore.

You're still an idiot.

Own up, because stupid behavior like this will get you into worse trouble than negative heatware if you keep it up.

What do you mean what should you do...did you really expect for us to sympathize? sounds like you've already made up your mind. You can either do the RIGHT thing or the evil, selfish, coward thing.

It's really up to you, do we really have to tell you "what to do"?

And really, never ever expect ATOT to pity you. They always tell it like it is.

Once you say "ok, I'll sell it for $x, come by on wednesday and pay for it" you've made a deal. You have to abide by that. You had up until you made the promise to change your mind. If you weren't sure, you shouldn't have said you were.

It sounds like you want someone to give you approval for what you've done. You feel bad about going back on your word, and you want someone to tell you that it is OK, and it was the right thing to do. Well, guess what... That is not going to happen here at AT. Don't look for sympathy here. Stick to your word, and sell the guy the parts. If you decide you don't want to go through with the deal, don't look for sympathy.
