It would have taken me around four hours round trip to go back and get my keys. My keys are in my gym bag at my office, which is an hour away when the trains are running normal time, but at night the line near me slows to a crawl at this time of night (i got home at 10:45pm). I have to transfer two times, which also adds more wait.
Why not take a taxi? Probably would have been cheaper than getting ripped off by the locksmith.

This is in NYC. What the eff man, these guys are so shady. When you call on the phone they tell you it's 85. I called the place again to make sure the dude they sent wasn't giving me fakek prices so he could pocket the money, and the guy on the phone told me 85 again, then I had to ask him 10 different questions in order to get him to tell me all the things they charge you for, and he got pissed and was like "that's the price, you want the service or no?". I hung up on him because he didn't realize i already had his henchman over at my place fixing the lock. So fucking pissed right now. I don't know anyone in brooklyn (where i live) who i could give my spare to.

hell, for less than 100 dollars you can get a very nice drill and a buncha bits and drill through yourself assuming its not an apartment. run an extension cord to the yard outlet

LOL..i did that once. Locked the door and forgot all keys (including car keys) inside the apartment. Parents were ~4-5 hours away.
Ended up going to the back side of the apartment and broke the smallest window through which I could fit into. Replacement of the window only cost like ~40 or so (it was a small ~2'x~2' window)
