Two noob questions here

1. How do I set up windows xp to log on so that it will go straight to the desktop without giving me a welcome screen or the user icons.

2. What is the asp.net machine A user account that i see under user account management?

1 - Start / Control Panel/ Users - There should be an option there to default to a specified user on startup.
2 - Installed when you probably downloaded the .net framework patch from MS. If you ran into a website that asked for .net frames, it would have installed it, or you prolly got it from Windows Update. If you can live with the extra account (does not do anything), then don't worry about it. If it annoys you, uninstall the .net framework patch, which will get rid of the account.

later.

That does not seem like the most logical. Why would you want an extra account on your computer, that M$ installed by itself?! You can leave the .NET framework on your computer, just remove the account. If you have problems with .NET framework working after the account is removed, do a repair and reinstall.

This kind of sh!t is why I run linux. the only reason I run windows is because of work.

I agree, rmrf. The only reason why I didn't tell elevation to remove the account was because I was not sure what the impact would have been in relation to the patch.

Yes, some serious apps create hidden accounts (not displayed on the Welcome Screen) ignore them.
