No, they make a good OS, and a good computer, but the incompatibility with standard hardware, and their enormous price tag, are WAY more than enough for me to stick with Windows.
Enormous? That's a bit of a blanket statement. But I agree for the most part you're paying a premium. Some items are a decent deal for a good number of poeple.
What standard hardware are you talking about? I'm honestly curious.
Or possiby a hybrid machine coming out of dual boot camp.Originally posted by: Coolone
What I think would be funny is if Apple paid the PC guy to work out and get all buff and in shape, and then make HIM the new mac guy, what with boot camp and all.
At the end of the day, Mac guy was smug, and smug is not cool or popular. Smug gets punched in the face, or, like today, fired.

Maybe him and the Dell kid can hang out now.

why would he type cast himself as the "mac guy" for the rest of his career?
I am sure it was something that was mutually agreed on. As others have said, he is a movie actor, not just commericals.
The PC Guy on there... i don't think i have ever seen him in anything else.
She adds (somewhat implausibly, perhaps), ?Justin?s a movie star, not a commercial guy.?

Microsoft products are clunky, painfully designed, and a terrible user experience from start to finish in comparison to mac software
Actually OSX is designed for people too dumb to figure out windows XP, which is another reason we have so many tech jobs being out-sourced to India.
As for OSX being inferiour to Windows, I'll offer you the same challenge I give the other Mac users:
- Google the top 10 24/7 Web Host/Application providers in your area, and show me *1* using either Apple hardware or OSX.
- Walk into any corporate server farm on the planet and show me the ratio of Windows boxes to OSX. Then note the education level and experience of those running those servers compared to the junior_college_graphics_arts flunkie raving about Apple in the media dept.
- The 10,000+ users I support don't have a problem With windows, so maybe it's just you.
- Compare the ratio of profit Microsoft makes selling actual business software -vs- hardware -vs- Apple selling iPods. Essentially, if it weren't for the iPod, Apple stock would be on the junk bond list.
Having a huge market doesn't make it better to use. To say OSX isn't a great OS is crazy, and makes you sound like a fanboy.

Markets rarely lie. If Apple and their Mac was the superior product for the price, Microsoft would never have become the monopoly they are today.

OS X is cheaper than windows, and does all the same stuff.
As the Mac character, Justin Long (who was in the forgettable movie Dodgeball and the forgettabler TV show Ed) is just the sort of unshaven, hoodie-wearing, hands-in-pockets hipster we've always imagined when picturing a Mac enthusiast. He's perfect. Too perfect. It's like Apple is parodying its own image while also cementing it. If the idea was to reach out to new types of consumers (the kind who aren't already evangelizing for Macs), they ought to have used a different type of actor.
...
The writing may have something to do with this, too. Hodgman gets all the laugh lines! And Mr. Mac comes off as a smug little twit, who (in the spot titled "WSJ") just happens to carry around a newspaper that has a great review of himself inside. (Even Norman Mailer usually refrains from such crassness.)

Those ads really did make me want to bash that guy's face in with something blunt and heavy.
