I just finished upgrading my computer and installed Windows XP SP2 on a clean WD Raptor 74GB SATA drive. However, whenever Windows starts up, there is a 10 second delay between the time the screen goes completely blank (when Windows starts booting) and when the "Loading..." screen shows up. I can't figure out how to debug this since there doesn't seem to be a step-by-step confirmation any more. Any ideas on what to do?
I read somewhere that Windows might do this if it's not able to boot it natively and needs to use special function calls (scsi() or something); is this standard on SATA drives as bootup drives? I have no PCI cards installed and just an AGP 8X video card. I also have two IDE drives, a DVD-RW and a CD-RW installed as well (IDE).
