I agree that the foundation is important before being far apart.Originally posted by: Tommouse
My long distance relationship just ended. We we met in highschool, became great friends and started dating. We carried it through 2 years of college seeing eachother every second weekend or so. We were 3-4 hours apart. We recently ended it (last weekend), as our feelings for eachother have dwindled, and our careers are taking us in very different directions. We are remaining friends, and so far so good. We were together for 2.75 years.
As some of the others stated its just really hard, as when you see eachother it's great, but those weeks without her sucked. We would AIM and talk on the phone, but it just ended up being to much. It was either now, or later, and we both decided to not drag it out.
I think without the first 8 months together that this wouldn't have worked at all. I can see carrying a relationship for times of distance, but I can't see starting one with distance, you just can't build the foundation with weekends.
By all means I wish the best of luck to you though
Ditto. After awhile, you dread the drive more than you look forward to meeting someone. I also hated the fact that I couldn't do anything else the weekends where I saw her. It's not that I mind spending my entire weekend with her, but I would have rather gone out with her AND some friends.Originally posted by: Imyourzero
Did it before. Twice. Wish I hadn't.
