Maybe I'm turning into and old man but I haven't embraced blogging, twittering, facebooking or my spacing.

I do however right alot of code much of which people may find useful. Atleast thats what everybody in the office thinks.

So they are encouraging(nagging) me to blog about my code.

So where do I go to blog. I thought of CodeProject as I use this site alot and find many of the articles so informative.

But this doesn't have blogging although I can link it to a blogging site.

So does anybody have some suggestions about how I could ditch my current home page and comeout into the 21st century of web life?

Really I want soemwhere that my techical blogs will fit into (I thought MSDN blogs but they look awful) yet looks god and still allow me to have some personal stuff pinned on the page.

Like links to my favoutie sites and my holiday snaps and perhapps the odd blog about motorbikes.

Anybody got some suggestions?????

I suggest getting your own hosting/domain name and setting up WordPress.

WP takes care of most everything. What you would have to do is write good content, do a little SEO, and make it look pretty.

Haha, pwned by Harcadio!

Anyway OP, I thing Blogspot is used quite commonly. Not to be a dick, but please use a spell/grammar check of some sort before you actually post your blogs, it would have caught a few of the errors in your OP.

i'm thinking of setting up a blog as well. i heard WordPress is good...

how about Blogger, LiveJournal, TypePad? does anyone prefer any of those over WordPress, why or why not?

Xanis, why did you recommend WordPress? More customizability?

WP is versatile and is more customizable than the others. It can be used as a general CMS in addition to being and not just for blogs (though it does blogs very well). Plus it is a standard install using Fantastico, though it's easy to install without.

WordPress, hands down. Content is king.

If your content attracts readers, you might be able to attract advertisers.

Free: Blogspot

Paid: Wordpress.

I think if you jsut want to do some default settings and focus on the content, I'd jsut go with blogspot and let google handle the rest. if you LOVE webdesign and really must customize everything, then I would tinker w/ wordpress.

Absolutely true. Good design and functionality can only do so much. If your writing or material is crap, no one will want to visit it regardless of how pretty it looks (well, some people still might visit, but you get the point).

You can get a free wordpress blog too. You'll just be set up as username.wordpress.com which is probably fine for you.

Or you could pay a few bucks for hosting and a domain and then install wordpress. I've done it and it's quite simple. There are a ton of plugins available as well.
