Need some help here. I currently have a black sx1030 and love it. but, with my new desk and where it sits, when I open the door on the case it blocks me from being able to get to the drives. I really like having the door however and can't stand the way it looks without it like I have it now. Does anyone know if someone makes a door that swings to the right?

thanks for the help!

sorry, i've NEVER seen anything like that.
you can always take the door off.......but then it'd be a lame ol' "no door"

I think its absolutely ridiculous to manufacture a window-modded case that has a panel that opens to the left...

I guess I can try and modify my door to swing to the right. It would make sense though for the door to swing away from the modded side. Oh well.

I just went to my supplier today and he showed me an aluminum case with a drive door that is hydraulically actuated! You hit a button on the top of the case and the door slowly slides down and exposes the drives. Might be just what you need.

Do you know who makes it?

Thanks

If you love you SX1030 it sounds like you need a Coolermaster 710. This is an SX1030/1040 that has an aluminum front bezel on it to replace the regular plastic bezel that comes on the SX1030. The cool thing about this is that you can switch the hinge pins around so the door opens the opposite way. Here's a pic of mine:

Case Pic.

That fixes the only thing I don't like about the Sx10x0 series: the door opens the wrong way if you keep your case to your right.

And no, you can't buy just the bezel, you have to buy the entire case.

Nice looking case! How does it compare to the SX series? How would you rate it?

Thanks!

The CoolerMaster case IS the SX case - identical, made by Chen Ming, just like the Antec/Chieftech etc. - just made of aluminum with the nice aluminum front bezel. Of course it costs significantly more and the PSU is additional (of course you can use the PSU from your Antec). Directron also carries the CoolerMaster case. If you decide to get one of these cases, let me know and I might take the old Antec off your hands.
.bh.

ps. I just went looking and newegg also has the CoolerMaster for about equal to the Sundial price.bh.

Well, as Zepper said "The Coolermaster 710 IS the Antec SX10x0 series". The body of the 710 is steel though, the only part that is aluminum is the faceplate. I would rate it as high as I would rate an Antec SX10x0 case: probably the best case you can buy for the money. The Sx10x0 series has proven to be one of the most popular cases out there. The 710 is the exact same case with an aluminum bezel (and a door that can open from the opposite side, for those that care!).

Yeah, I thought the skin was also aluminum like some of the others, but you can tell from the weight that it must be steel. Wonder if you can just get the aluminum front bezel/door assembly separately?

No, you can't get it separately and even if you could it wouldn't do you any good because it doesn't attach like the normal Antec bezel attaches. Coolermaster actually modifies a stock SX10x0 case by installing about 10 threaded brass inserts into the face of the case. The Coolermaster aluminum bezel screws onto these brass inserts.
