looking for a winRAR equivilant

I bet 80% of people who use computer wouldn't have a clue what these files with rar extension are, and would demand proper zip archive. So no, it's not a standard by ANY means. It's just some of the slightly above average (and up) users like it. And surprise, in an enterprise environment, you'd get your ass kicked pretty badly if you tried to use rar instead of zip

OP there is no equivalent to WinRar. It is the standard that others strive to attain. Either you deal with the nag screen or pony up the cash.

I was going to mention this, Windows will handle .zip files for you fine since despite what some other in this thread say, it is the standard. Also FWIW 7zip has pretty much the best performance.

Windows won't handle many of the lesser used features of zip, but they probably being using RAR/7z instead if they needed them.

Have they fixed the right-click context sensitive (or whatever it's called) for 7zip and windows 8?
