I have a motherboard without firewire, a PCI firewire card with an internal port, just like the external ones, and a case with a front panel firewire port. (Antec Sonata to be exact)
I have popped the bezel off and discovered that the cables running from the motherboard to the ports (2 USB 1 Firewire-6-pin, 2 audio minijack) are attacked to a PCB much like the the business ends that plug into the motherboard, and they appear to be seperate, (1 for firewire, 1 for 2xUSB ports, 1 for audio) question is, can I get:
a. a replacement cable that runs from the PCB in the bezel and terminates at the other end with a male? (not sure about definition of male/female for those connectors) 6-pin firewire connector
b. an adapter that has a 6 pin firewire connector and 6 male pins just like the ones on my mobo for the xtra USB 2.0 ports
