Looking for Mail Merge Software

I've been using Microsoft Word for mail merging purposes for a while, comercially that is. However, it's slow as molasses when dealing with even more than 5,000 records. I quite often do 50,000 plus. Is there any other software out there that might be faster than Word. The closest I've seen so far has been Avery DesignPro. But it can be somewhat confusing to use for the computer illiterate that I have to train.

Any recommendations?

We use a program called PlanetPress which is sooooo much better than Word. Of course it is expensive and used on Konica copiers. I'm not sure if it also works on other copiers. Of course with programs of that type there is a learning curve. But once trained it really is very simple. We do 50,000 to 100,000 a day sometimes. It will go as fast as the rated speed limit of the copier.
