I have tendonitis in my hand and wrist, mostly pinky and ring finger on my right hand. Are there any good mice that are bigger and give more support for the outside of the hand? I have a Razer Naga and MX518 and like them both but for longer gaming sessions need something shaped a little different. Any ideas?

Thanks

RAT 7 is pretty adjustable and has a pinkie rest, may want to give it a look. Thread about it around here somewhere.

Well if your hand is already messed up, my guess is any mouse is going to hurt. It would be worth it to get a trackball for any amount of extended computer activity. Yes it would take time to get used to. Yes, new high tech trackballs haven't been released by logitech for a long time. However the older models that are floating around will be a godsend for your hand and they are quite good at covering large amounts of screen quickly in games.
They aren't the best for trying to snipe or do quick edits in photoshop without bothering to pull out your tablet.

Or possibly you may want to continue using your current mouse that you like for gaming and use something like a Bamboo Pen & Touch pad for general windows use. Works like a very oversized laptop touchpad.

Second the digitizing pad. I had serious wrist problems a few years back, and switching to a Wacom pad resolved the issue in weeks, and it has never returned.

Avoiding to use a mouse can help (assuming the tendonitis is caused by too much mouse use and not accidents/conditions/sports).
Keep the mouse to play FPSs and get an alternative analogic input method for desktop use.

I strongly second this recommendation. I started using a Wacom tablet for Image/Video editing, but it since become my input device of choice. No more cramping finger, wrist or forearm. I moved the mouse on the left side of my system have become quite ambidextrous.

A solid entry level device is the Bamboo Pen & Touch pad.

Ever try to edit bitmap graphics with a trackball? Clum-see! But for ordinary navigating, they are good.

Pixel editing with any mouse is a PITA. The precision of holding a stylus or pen when dealing with single pixels can't be beat. Mice and trackballs are great for macro work, but not so good for micro work. Easy to compare. Pick up a pencil and try writing your name on a piece of paper only moving your wrist and not your fingers. That equals a mouse. For precision work, the hand is rested on the table, and you move the pencil with fingers. not the wrist or arm.

logitech marble mouse (optical trackball) glued to small shelf bracket and bolted onto the arm of my lazyboy. its not just the mouse but the ergonomics around your arm. my hand rests naturally on the mouse as tho it were part of the chair.

I've been lucky that I've gone from using logitech thumb trackballs to getting used to finger mousing with very high sensitivity settings on my mice so don't move my wrist much. Consider using a trackball for a little while or a more ergonomic mouse to help yourself heal up.

For right-handed mousing, the Zero Tension Mouse is big and provides the support for the outside of the hand you were looking for. I've used it for years and like it. I'd also suggest alternating hands periodically, adding a left-handed Evoluent.
