looking for new laptop

Hi, I am looking for a new laptop and am having a problem finding what I need in it. Here is what I need in it:
-16" screen (would like a uxga)
-2+ gig cpu
-512 mb ram (would like to be expandable to 1024)
-3d accel (either ati radeon or geforce 4xx)
-60 gig hdd
-dvd writer of some type
-3 yr warrently with accidental damage (it will be getting beat around in small airplanes all day)

Features that would be nice:
-touch pad mouse
-built in wi-fi
-2nd battery
-xp pro (not home)

Anyone have any ideas? I was looking at Toshiba's 6100 or Sony GRX700. The Toshiba has one of the ball mice and the Sony doesn't have accidental damage protection. My budget is around $3300.

16" screens don't exist AFAIK.
UXGA screens are generally ~15"
The largest is Apple with the 17" powerbook.

The only companies that include a DVD-R are Sony, Toshiba, and Apple. You can probably expect more companies to do so by year's end.

be aware of the weight of the laptop. Just looked at the 17inch apple notebook and it only weighs 6.8 pounds which is pretty impressive. but ya .. anyway ..

weight doesn't matter as long as it isn't excessive (like over 20 lbs). I use my laptop as a desktop replacement when I am on the road and I am on the road a lot. I am looking for a 135 air charter pilot and/or bussiness pilot. I have a tablet pc that I use when I fly and for other small things.

forget alienware, they are overpriced

check out here, sager makes those alienware laptops

and yes 16' screen with UXGA DOES exist

I am a professional pilot. I use my tablet inflight for maps, approach plates, etc. It is a Fujitsu Stylistic 3400. The tablet runs on win98 SE with a 15 gig hdd, 500 mhz celeron, and 128mb ram. It is a little slow but it works great with the special software that I use it for. If something where to happen to my tablet, like a viral, I would be up a creak. I don't use the tablet for anything else except for my flight stuff plus it is slow. I want the laptop to use on the road (and being a professional pilot I am on the road a lot) for work task and entertainment (watching dvd's and gaming).

slow or not if it gets the job done who cares. Must be awsome to be flying though. Thats one hell of a job. One day i'd like to be like that. Like someone asks what do i do and i tell them andtheir jaw drops lol ya know? i think air pilot or fighter jet pilot ranks right up there in impresssive jobs i think lol!

that is one of the best parts. i am a part time it guy and i am also a pro pilot. it is funny to just see people jaw drop when you tell them and go "you said you due what?" I love it. I love my stylistic becouse it is the right size, easy to use in the cockpit, and runs my software great but for gaming of any kind it sucks.
