TLDR - If you experience any type of random hearing loss, get it checked out immediately.
So around end of March beginning of April I woke up with what appeared to be a stuffed up ear. Like I was at elevation and it just needed to pop or something. I think I even posted this in the FWP.
Someone on here (ironwing maybe?) said they would go to the Dr. immediately, so after work I went in and had it looked at. Dr. said there was fluid in my ear behind my drum and gave me a round of antibiotics. After 5 days of it not working, went back he gave me a 10 day round while I waited for an ENT appt. After the 10 day round, still no resolution and was finally able to get into an ENT. After an exam and audio test, he diagnosed me with SSHL: https://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/sudden-deafness. He offered some steroid injections into my inner ear to see if that would help get some hearing back, but he said it'd be painful and most likely wouldn't do much since it happened over a few weeks ago.
He also recommended I get an MRI and bloodwork to rule out any tumors or metabolic issues and just had my follow-up yesterday. MRI and bloodwork came out fine except I'm slightly anemic, but nothing that would provide an answer to why I just had a sudden loss of hearing. He said it may be a nerve issue as a result of my diabetes. I asked him if he'd heard of anyone taking ozempic having hearing issues, he said he hadn't but I told him I read anecdotes of some people experiencing hearing loss while on ozempic, but nothing official.
Anyways, yeah, can't really hear out of left ear. Sound is muffled, and there's random noises I "hear". Most of the time it's a mild ringing, not painful and by now I'm used to it. In a loud environment is where it's worse. Sounds like a blown speaker and certain pitches vibrate my drum and distorts the sound. Kinda crazy...
