I have a P35 paired with an e8400. I have been running it at 400x9 for a 3.6 overclock since I have gotten it (4-6months or so), memory running at 2.0 for 800mhz rating (pc6400 corsair).

For the last 2 days when it posts, it shows I am running at 333x9 and memory at 667, and cpuz confirms. I have gone into the bios, and it shows I have it set at 400x9 and memory at 2.0 divider. I press f10 to save it, and it just wont stick.

I have changed nothing in the system since I built it. Voltage is stable on all the lines, I really have no idea here. Should I just clear the cmos and start over with the settings?

Clearing the CMOS is a start. You might need to flash the BIOS too. Is this a gigabyte mobo by any chance? They seem to be known for this problem.

I have this problem on my IP35-E on occasion. Tell the BIOS to load default/failsafe settings, save, then go back in and set back to what you had it at.

This is all I have to do to solve the same problem.

Turn off computer.
Unplug USB game controller.
Unplug computer, but turn the PSU on.
Hold in the power button for about 5 seconds, 3 times.
Re plug in computer and boot.

Good luck, but I'd try this before invoking the CMOS gods.
Just cause it's easier.

EDIT: Forgot to mention turning on PSU switch. Don't know if that would make any difference.

well thanks for the replys, looks like clearing the cmos did the trick. I guess during a windows error shutdown it tricks to board into thinking its a bad overclock and it wouldnt reload the parameters.

For what its worth, unplugging the psu, and then removing the battery for a a few seconds did the trick.

To clear the CMOS? It works but there's usually a downtime you'll have to account for since the power doesn't drain immediately.

Step 1: Check that this guy isn't around. He has been known to temporarily halt abilities.
