nice

I didn't contribute one cent to that $1 billion... no way am I spending 3 hours in a theater sittin' on my a$$. I'll rent it at Hollywood Video when it comes out.... with a rent 1 get 1 free coupon.

I think it was worth all $24 I spent on the 3 movies. a nice theater with SDDS sound, nice re-clining seats and friggin huge screen can beat any home set up.

Youve never seen a real home Theater Then, it may not be as big of a screen or seats but the quality/comfort of a well done Home Theater can bet any retail theater hands down.

And no, the thater in my sig is not what I would consider a good theater, that was done of a 3k college student budget.

When I can fit a 50ft wide screen In my house and put in stadium risers, then I will stay home.

Half the point of a home Theater is you dont need a 50 ft wide screen since your not gonna have 300 people watching it at your house. Most Home theaters Ive seen that are good Id say have at most 20 permenant chairs and those chairs are sweetness Berkline Recliners. A 150 inch screen when your sitting 15 ft away looks the same as a 50 ft wide screen 50 ft away. (not really but your perception is the same)... beleive me my 100 inch screen looks as big as the Large Theaters at the local cineplex.

The distance from seat to screen (in the theatre I am thinking of) is less than 50ft.

Also, since I assume you are talking about projection, a decent home theatre requires its own room. Not to mention the $$$$ layout for good equipment vs. the $8 to go see it in a conventional theatre.

Yeah but the $8+refrehments X a lifetime fo movie watching is alot of cash.....(it doesnt add up to a home theater, but its not exactly cheap especially when you consider all the crap you have to go through at a theater) The only movie I saw this whole year was Pirates of the Carib and Return of the King.... Once you have a nice home movie experince (pause button, better comfort, no people to use cell phones/talking, drinks and popcorn are much cheaper, bathroom breaks, etc).... Theres just no reason to go to a theater once you build yourself a nice home thater other than not wanting to wait for a dvd and soon HD-DVD (which will really make me not want to go see movies at the theater)

I nominate the following books for movies:

William Gibson - Neuromancer

Terry Brooks - The Shannara (sp?) series

L Ron Hubbard - Mission Earth Series

There's a difference between one of the best selling books of all time that is a massive part of worldwide popular culture, especially in the 60s and 70s, and your cheesy sci fi books.

even with all the problems like cell phones and babies, you can't replace the experience of going to a theater and seeing a great movie.

It's magic !
