Low CPU temp (perhaps too low?)

I just built the system listed in my signature, and I was wondering if there may be an error in the CPU temperature. At idle the system runs at 12C and after playing UT2004 with most setting maxed out (can't fully max it out right now because I'm using a FX 5600 until the 6800 Ultra arrives) it reported 21C. For the first reading the Venus was set on high and the second was at medium I think. I was just wondering if these results are correct because they seem too low for me, coming from an Alienware Athlon XP 2000+ system, which idled at about 46C and and maxed out around 55C.

What program are you using to report the temperature? What does the BIOS say? Any BIOS updates available that say they resolve this kind of issue?

I was quiting and going straight into the BIOS to get those temperatures (haven't gotten another program yet but I want to). I just checked a couple days ago for BIOS updates before my board arrived so I knew whether or not I would need to update, which I found that I would. When the board arrived it already had the latest BIOS (F3). F2 enabled Cool'n'Quiet.

What is the room temp? 12C is a chilly 54F, so unless the room you're in is a refridgerator, it's almost certainly wrong.

My room is normally around 21C/70F. Anyone else with a system like mine who can post some temperatures? Oh and I am running everything at stock speed right now, but if my temperatures are accurate, I will definately be overclocking some.

Unless you have a cryo cooler, the temp is most certainly wrong. Where is the sensor on this Gigabyte mobo?

Well I was just reading through the reviews at newegg for my CPU cooler (I bought it without looking at most of them), and while many people reported higher temperatures, they were also using slower CPU's; some people reported results close to mine and one person said 3C for the lowest. So with this good cooler, maybe my processor has not had a heavy enough load enough load to heat it up? Can someone give my a link to a good temperature monitoring program and a stress test?

***Update***

I just did a little more testing. I set my CPU fan speed to the maximum and played two 20 minute rounds of UT2004 with 31 bots in each. First I played onslaught on Dria, and then deathmatch on Inferno. Before going to the BIOS, I turned the fan speed back to minimum while the game was still running. With a room temperature of 22C/72F I still ended up with 20C/68F

Its definately wrong.

BTW, has fast have you managed to get the FSB up to on your board ?

Well I get 12C when I first boot also, which is about 10C off. I let the system run idle with lowest CPU fan speed in PC Health Status in the BIOS, and the temperature maxed out at 23C which is slightly above room temperature.

I haven't done any overclocking yet. I kind of wanted to verify that I was getting correct temperatures before I tried anything. Maybe we need someone with a similar system but with a different motherboard to compare results. I think I may try sending a message to Gigabyte to see what they have to say.

*** Update ***
Just hit my highest temperature so far. After running UT2004 with lowest fan speed for a while I hit 26C.

Oh, I forgot to answer you corky- I have absolutely no clue. This is the first system I have ever built.
