Low performance with my Radeon 7500?

Hi,

I just bought a new Radeon 7500 today (my first ATI card) and installed it over my old Riva TNT 2 M64. Everything went on smoothly but i'm very dissatisfy with her performance. I ran 3D mark 2001 SE and got about 1845++ marks whereby other people who had a similiar setup like mine got around 2500 to 3200++ marks (from madonion.com). And while playing counter strike, I got a FPS like about 30 to 40 frames compared to my RIVA TNT 2 M64 with 20 to 30 FPS. Did i left out anything? I mean I've already Disable Vsync, and AA, installed VIA 4 in 1 driver, and ever applying the refresh rate fix. So, do you guys have any solution or tweaks regarding my problem? or did I get a faulty card? Thank you.

btw, i'm using Win XP and my Radeon 7500 is running at 250/400.

You need to fully remove your old video card drivers for the TnT. That setup wont perform very well under XP, I think your comparing to people on 9x based machines.

try the newest ati drivers. And removing the old install of the nvidia drivers. otherwise you will not get the performance you desire.

do the ati_npatch 0 thing.. make sure you add it to config.cfg in the cstrike dir

get the 6071 beta drivers from rage3d.com, they OWN

your scores are WAY to low, i get 4200 on my radeon mobility in my inspiron 8100

Normally going to add/remove programs is enough but in your case you might have problems since you've already installed the new drivers over the top of the old ones. You might have to boot into safe mode and manually delete any "nVidia" and "TNT" registry entries and associated folders.

Also make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS for your system.
