ls120 drive set as B:?

howcome windows xp is setting my ls120 drive as b: instead of a:? there is an a: but it is just a dead useless drive that does nothing when i click on it except say "please insert disk"

Attach the floppy drive to the other free connector on the FDD cable. It's probably on the wrong one, that's why it has B: assigned to it.

That sounds about right.

alright ill try that, but its not an fdd cable.... im using an ide cable... forgot to mention that its an ls-120 floppy drive ;-x

In your BIOS there should be a setting that says "sway boot drive" or something to that effect. Try and locate and enable this setting. This worked for me when I was using a FDD from the early 90s.

if you're using a LS120 then disable the floppy controller in your BIOS, that should move your LS120 to A:

In the first page of your BIOS, you must put (floppy) Drive A: [none] and (floppy) Drive B: [none]. And also disable the floppy controller.

BTW, what MB and BIOS do you have?

See if there's an option in Bios Called "Win 95 No FDD" or similar. I know that the 9x series had a problem that, if you had no floppies installed and set it so in bios, windows still reported a floppy drive.
