God I hope Nokia fixes the daytime photos. Just took some and they are horrendously blurry :-(. Night time photos ARE amazing though

Picked up the Nokia wireless charging stand yesterday and am loving the thing. It starts charging immediately as I put it on the stand and the charging time seems to be fairly fast so far. My local AT&T store had it in stock and they let me get it instead of the free charging plate that they still hadn't gotten in for 920 purchasers. They credited me for the $49 and I paid $20 out of pocket.

I finally got mine. Lines were still long this morning, but I am in the Seattle area.

The camera is really awesome. I took a comparison photo in low light between my 900 and 920...it really is night and day. Haven't had issues with daylight yet...but we don't get sun this time of year. It was already hyped up, but it lived up to it so far.

The screen is beautiful and performance is very good. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the app selection. There's quite a few apps that are here that weren't on 7.5 or have a nicer version here. The multiple size tiles is a lot more welcome than I would have expected it to be too. Haven't put it through a whole day of normal use yet, but the battery seems pretty good so far.

I do find it uncomfortably large. The 900 was already a bit big for me, and the extra width here really pushes my limits. I played with an 8x and really liked the feel of it...I have two weeks to decide if the awesome camera is worth the heft....

I was worried about the heft at first too, but it really is a solid phone.

Just FYI, to use Pandora, just use their HTML5 site with IE10. Works fine with volume and pause controls from the OS. Skip doesn't work though.

Can it charge through a case or do you have to take it out before charging

I don't have an actual case on the phone, but i tried putting my Kindle case (which is much thicker than a phone case) on top of the charger, and the phone on top of that, and it charged without issue, so I imagine it would be fine.

I was worried about the heft at first too, but it really is a solid phone.

Heft wasn't really the best choice of word for me. I'm not really concerned with thickness or weight - it's width. I use my phone with one hand most of the time, and it's a bit too wide for comfort when typing one handed. So I would have the same problem (or bigger) on most high end phones these days...the 8x is one of the few that would be better in that area.

I bought mine from the MS store for $450 after tax it was about $488. After a week of use I really really like this phone... I still have my one x... but if I don't sell it in time I'm going to return it instead and probably buy it back later. Great phone though so far. Apps are way overblown for what it is. I have downloaded about 100 apps and only use a few so far (movies, yelp, nokia map/drive, bing, xbox music, runtastic, some games) but that's what I've been using so far on my android phone as well. I think another few months and the apps should be even better.

Yes I have the same experience especially coming from the relatively tiny 4s. The width is almost too much for one handed use. I'm LOVING the big screen, but i've noticed a few times I couldn't reach a corner to tap a link or something and had to switch to two hands. I think for most times this won't be an issue. For now it's iffy: the matte black is super slick and Att still hasn't called me to tell me my case has come in. :yikes: don't want to drop it!

So replaced Nokia 822 with a new one, previous one wouldn't allow any apps to open. Everything crashed.

New phone is working well, except for a dead zone on the touch screen where the Q is on the keyboard. Try to go to settings and hit display+touch to adjust settings thinking maybe that will help, app crashes.

So phone is useless if any passwords contain a 1 or Q and if the app (like skype) won't allow you to rotate the screen for a different keyboard layout.

Trying a soft reset now.

My fanboi has died. What a POS experience.

This plus the IE reloading/bad multitasking issue sounds like a bad combination...

Anybody with bad battery life should do some full discharges and see if your batteries improve.

Got my black speck candyshell case yesterday(ordered through ATT 8 days ago). It's a very solid case indeed. It is raised above the glass just enough so you can set it face down and not worry about scratching the glass on anything. Love the inner rubber skin.
The gloss black is a HORRIBLE idea. after having it in my pocket and sitting on a desk or notepad for half a day it's full of little swirl marks and tiny scratches. I have no doubt it'll protect the phone very well. I just hate gloss black for this reason. My dell laptop also has a gloss black lid..same story lol.

On a positive note of WinPho8 I have to give major kudos to the interface between bluetooth and text messages. It's brilliant.

When I'm in the car and a text comes in a voice prompt (that's much more natural sounding than Siri) comes on and says "Message from 'Jessie'. Would you like to have it read?"

You can say yes and it will read the message. When it's done it asks you if you would like to reply or end the conversation. If you say "Reply" it will then ask you to say your message. You say it and then it'll read it back to you. You can then chose to keep it, redo it, or end it. When you are happy with the dictation you can send it back.

Very cool. I guess this was in WP7 too, but it just had very little press compared to Siri. This is one of the best uses of voice recognition I've used in a phone.

I always had problems with the voice dictation in WP7, especially if you were swearing. Honestly, it would take 2-3 times as long to process swear words, and then would just comic book them out anyway... @$%# that!

And on a totally unrelated note to either the Lumia or WP8 I'd like to give a shout out to Straight talk. I've got an AT&T ST sim in my phone and AT&T's (err ST's) data speeds absolutely crush Verizon. I routinely pull 4x-5x faster download speeds than my wife can on Verizon's 3G. I can't say I'm really missing LTE with rates like these. It's around 3mb down which is more than acceptable for most mobile needs.

With capped data limits there's not much more function I'd gain from LTE speeds.
