I picked mine up at CompUSA the day it came out. This card is supposed to be available at retail outlets everywhere.

It's not really designed as a gamer's soundcard. But yes, for anything else...better.

And if you use a digital connection, it makes no difference. (I don't buy the "proof" from people who think otherwise)
Don't get me wrong, I think this is an amazing card in certain situations, but you probably won't be able to tell the difference
if you're using ~$100 pc speakers. I think this is aimed at HTPCs and high quality analog-in recording.

But in that case, why not just have your receiver connect via digital means?

Question! If I do light gaming, and I'm not a FPS whore, would this be a nice upgrade from my Santa Cruz??

With gaming, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's not the FPS but the positional audio that affects most people.

To answer your question, it would help to know what you hook up to your TBSC? (speaker model, heaphone model, etc)

I use a 5.1 setup; Altec Lansing AL 251's

I wouldn't think you'd be able to tell a difference. But that's my personal opinion. Unless you could take advantage of the extra functionality, save your $$$.

You can always buy it, install it, swap cables back and forth, and see what you think. If they're indistinguishable, return it
