I noticed right out of the box, my 15" Macbook Pro (1400X900) is not as sharp as windows. Am I missing any settings?

I tried all settings in system preferences related to this.

If im not mistaken, OSX uses a different font smoothing technique than XP/Vista. I recall noticing a slight difference when I first got my Mac Mini. I wouldn't say it looked less sharp per say, I just noticed that it looked different. Other than that, as long as your resolution is set properly, there's not much else I think you can change to sharpen it up (AFAIK).

That being said, there are LCD sample variations, and it is possible that yours looks different from how it should. Have you looked at other MBP's in person and noticed the same? My Macbook is sharp as a tack, but I noticed my dad's looks a bit softer.

Also, what are you comparing it to? All you are saying is that it is not as sharp as windows (which I assume is Windows), but you don't give a comparison point. Windows on the same machine a la Boot Camp, or Windows on another laptop? Or perhaps even Windows on a desktop with a CRT?

In addition to the difference in font smoothing (I think that Windows uses anti-aliasing whereas OS X uses sub-pixel rendering) the display differences, in resolution, screen size, and any number of other factors could also be at play. Any additional information you could provide would be useful.

I think you're just used to seeing Windows. If I run XP or Vista in a VM, it has a bit more of a crisp feel, but I prefer the way that OS X looks to the pixel crisp look of Windows. The other thing that you might be noticing is all the shadows. I think that causes some things to have a more smooth look.

I have tons of people come into my office and go on and on about how great my macbook pro's screen looks. They are always saying how clean and clear everything is.

I haven't installed windows thru boot camp. For sure it will be sharp. I connected MBP and Windows machine to the same LCD and yes there is difference due to the way they use pixel rendering.

My other question is Photos are shown more clear on the MBP than windows.
Which one will show more close to PRINTS.

Both machines has been calibrated with Spyder2express.

Well, that depends on if you have the glossy or matte MBP. The glossy will make things look better on the LCD screen, but the prints will be closer to the colors you see on the matte finish MBP.

MBP are heavily used in the professional design/print industry, so I would tend to think the Mac would be a bit more accurate, but quite a number of factors come into play as well so its hard to tell.

^Actually, if the LCD monitor is 8-bit, then that would be more accurate. MBP's only have 6-bit screens, so it shouldn't give a more accurate color. If your LCD monitor is a cheapy 6-bit one as well, then the MBP might be better.
