I have 2 hdd and yesterday I was transfering files from my 40 gig pata hdd to my 160gig sata when the system froze. I restarted and ever since if I try to run any programs or files, or backup any information off my 40 gig it freezes and gives me a machine_check_exception and restarts. Though it will not stop for more than like 2 seconds on the blue screen of death error page, so can't give more information on error type except that it is a theat machine_check_exceptionr. I tried to do a chkdisk on this drive, but it failed with same error. Any suggestions or help?

I checked my evenviewer and couldn't find anything major accept a warning that started a log since my comp was not shutdown right and I turned off the automatic re-boot option, but still it goes through the blue screen so fast can only pick-up a couple of errors.

I'm also having similar problems. I recently cloned my 80 gig IDE HD to a WD Raptor SATA drive. Everything runs great when the SATA is the only drive, but when I add the 80 gig IDE for extra storage, my system crashes with the MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION error. I also have automatic reboot turned off, but it makes no difference. I've reformatted the IDE drive and tried it under different configurations (IDE 1, IDE 2, slave, master, etc.), but nothing works.

HELP!!!!!
