If you play at 1600x900 it will give much greater FPS , minimum 10 or 15 and max more, and avg 75 or 80 ........ just use 2xAA and 16xAA and high detail in npanel game settings to default or high,,,,,,,,,,,

3fps minimum is not good.... Im churned off by this game if lowest is that low. Avg isnt good either should give out 80fps and higher. take down res get greater much greater performance and just use 2x AA. good luck
the minimum in the benchmark doesn't mean squat. its just simply changing scenes and is a single dip. in real gameplay it doesn't do that.

Thanks for the explanation of what nvidia physx is trying to do. All this time I was expecting it to do more. I kept getting disappointed. At least now I know what they intend to add.

Anyone else find the cloth physx in this game bad? or is it just me?

its certainly not natural looking with physx on but neither are most of those chunks that go everywhere when you shoot stuff either. really I think the physx effects in this game are laughable and even more so if you factor in the fps you take.

Then once again, I implore you and anyone else who doesn't like it to TURN IT OFF and play the game the way the developers would have released it without Nvidia's help in coding in gpu-physx effects.

PLAY THE GAME THE WAY IT WAS MENT TO BE PLAYED; WITHOUT NVIDIA TINKERING

Also known as : PTGTWIWMTBP;WNT

I know this is longer than the ..shorter Nvidia version, but we could come to learn it...couldnt we? come to love it even?

another game i'm excited for. Gameplay in the demo was fun for me, if a bit unforgiving.

Graphics are meh IMO. With a 5770 and Q6600@3ghz i'm getting steady 30fps at 1080P with details cranked, vysnc on. I hit 20 in fire scenes, will have to tinker to get better frames, gonna need more than 30fps on this one. I like the voice acting the most, and I love the oldies that play when driving around town!

Will buy for 49, if 59 gonna hold off.

In other words, you mean love straight up console ports? Awesome.

That's because of double buffered v-sync. You can either get 60, 30, 20, 15 etc. And nothing in between. You have to force triple buffering to avoid those harsh FPS jumps. Use D3D Overrider for it.

As for the demo:

MIN: 6.7FPS
AVG: 49.4FPS
MAX: 111.1 FPS

Rank C.

That's all ON or maxed with PhysX OFF. Also, just to see what I was missing without PhysX... A more volumetric explosion smoke and and LOT of strange debris flying around. Shooting anything creates a fountain of debris, which IMO looks very very weird. Not to mention 40AVG on GTX480 SLi...

Without PhysX the environment is still destructible, the explosions look nice (not as nice, granted) and you don't get silly blobs of stuff flying around. Also, the world textures are low resolution (very low...) and those sharp, well defined PhysX additions that fly around and land everywhere really make the whole game look even weirder.

That is just my personal opinion, obviously.

Ohh and the game messed up gamma on my primary screen (it's very dark after I quit the game). I have to restart my computer to restore proper view every time...

EDIT: However the demo was a lot of fun And it does look better than GTA IV IMO. Runs better too. Though the distant objects pop-up is somewhat distracting. I'll probably get the game once it's out.

Although I am a supporter of hardware-accelerated physics in general, I don't like how this game uses them.
The game just doesn't look good imho.
One thing that really annoyed me was how the fenders on those cars had this weird jiggling motion...

QBah - if you haven't already done this, go to your Nvidia control panel and set physx to be done on the second card. Rerun the benchmark - the results may surprise you.

I have a single Radeon HD5850

However, I did the following:

http://physxinfo.com/news/3628/mafia-ii-demo-tweaking-physx-performance/

Deleted the cloth PhysX as per the instructions (except for Vito) and can play with PhysX at Medium quite comfortably. You can feel it's not super smooth, feels like an Xbox game for the most part (~30FPS). Did slow down some more at times. However, as I said, those particles do look weird (when you shoot stuff). Smoke and explosions look nicer though. If I could cut down on the number of particles spraying from things, it would be really nice. Even at Medium it's too much visually.

EDIT: Reran the benchmark with the tweak for PhysX on CPU.

MIN: 5.0FPS
AVG: 25.8FPS
MAX: 90.9FPS

Rank D.

So it was console-level performance with a lot higher visual detail. Anyone with a ~4GHz Core iX care to try?

But at what resolutions, you got a nice performance boost, I did the same tweak and got a nice boost in performance, which is the core clock speed of your CPU, they overclock like a dream.

Min: 15.6
Max: 111.1
Ave: 46.5

My CF setup shouldn't be much faster than your HD 5850, that's why I asked you the resolution and CPU clocks, just in case,
