Pretty impressed with the performance in this game. a 5850 on a q9550 @ 3.4 in 1920x1080 gets 48fps average with vsync on, AA on, and physx on medium with cloth removed. Not bad at all considering I don't have a physx gpu.

EDIT: never mind I see you removed the cloth effects.

WTF? Here are my scores and system.
i7 930 @ 3.4ghz
6gb ram
win 7 64bit
evga gtx 470 sc left at superclock speeds

min 3.1
max 125
avg 31.5
rank D

I have it cranked up max settings on everything @ 1920x1080p
Are these scores right?
Could someone tell me if my cpu or gpu is holding me back right now? I could push my cpu or gpu higher or would either way not be enough?

But at what resolutions, you got a nice performance boost, I did the same tweak and got a nice boost in performance, which is the core clock speed of your CPU, they overclock like a dream.

Min: 15.6
Max: 111.1
Ave: 46.5

My CF setup shouldn't be much faster than your HD 5850, that's why I asked you the resolution and CPU clocks, just in case,

Ohh, I thought I mentioned it. I'm gaming at 1920x1080. CPU@3.2GHz and GPU@850/1150. I removed Vito's Cloth PhysX (so no Cloth folder at all) and reran the benchmark with PhysX Medium (on CPU obviously). I got 38FPS AVG (up from 25FPS with Cloth PhysX on Vito) with 22FPS MIN. I ran FRAPS this time and made a graph:

The slowest part is with the huge fire inside the warehouse.

Now if someone could tell me how to lower the particle count when you shoot stuff (as it's too much IMO), I'd be happy

PhysX is holding you back. Read that guide I linked to earlier. If you remove Cloth PhysX on NPCs (leaving it on for your character) you will get a massive boost to FPS with no real IQ difference. The guide actually uses a GTX470.

I think something goes on in fraps.
Because in the warehouse it drops to about 27 and stays there. But if you die and reload in the elevator your right back to 60. So something definitely goes on.

Max settings except v-sync off
Using newest Nvidia drivers 258.96
Using newest PhysX available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.10.0513-driver.html

Resolution 1280x1024

Min 6.0 fps
Max 83.3 fps
Avg 19.4 fps
Rank E

I cranked up the CPU to 4.01 Ghz to see if it was CPU bound, here are the results:

Resolution 1280x1024

Min 6.4 fps
Max 90.9 fps
Avg 19.3 fps
Rank E

Max increased but Avg actually went down .1 fps. Seems to be GPU bound rather than CPU bound.

of course its gpu bound since you have a fast cpu and a relativity slow gpu.

I tried those settings, something is wrong with those benches posted there. Somehow a single 480 and a 240 for physx get 68fps ? And then 480 sli with no dedicated gets 64 ? And then the next guy also with 480 sli, gets 15 fps less at 50 ?

Also 460 SLI is faster than 470 SLI ? Reading through that thread, they're all deleting game files, messing with physx updates and editing game files. Seems their lists are basically worthless.

The benchmark/demo/drivers/sli/physx all in tandem seem completely broken in the game.

I know I don't have an issue on my end as I get the numbers I should in any other bench, and I tried those various physx updates.

I could care less about the physx, there is not much difference, just want them to fix sli in this game as I'm looking forward to playing it.

I am sure the full version will be nVidea GPU Physx only. It will probably also contain better optimization for SLI.

This time I disabled PhysX and AA

Win7 64bit
i3 530 2.93 Ghz (stock)
PNY 9600GT (stock)
4GB RAM
Tried with PhysX disabled, AA disabled, and v-sync disabled
Using newest Nvidia drivers 258.96
Using newest PhysX available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9...13-driver.html

Resolution 1280x1024

Min 7.2
Max 111.1
Avg 37.0
Rank D

With CPU cranked to 4.01 Ghz

Min 8.3
Max 125
Avg 37.4
Rank D

Avg frames almost doubled over previous benches http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=30286081&postcount=183

However pretty much same results being GPU bound.

again the 9600gt is a relatively low end card and even your cpu at stock speeds is pretty darn fast. anyway as you can see physx takes a massive toll and with a 9600gt you are barely getting by with physx off. if you have the money I would suggest getting a decent widescreen monitor and gtx460. playing at 1280x1024 is the worst possible gaming experience becuase of the horrifically claustrophobic 5:4 aspect ratio.

I've just installed the demo from Steam onto a computer using the Radeon HD 5870. The first thing I did was go into video settings and ensure that PhysX was turned off, and antialiasing was turned on. All other settings were turn on to high.

The built-in benchmark delivered 85 FPS on average, and the graphics looked meh. It seemed like maybe I missed a setting somewhere, so I returned to video options. When I did, antialiasing was turned off. So I turned it on, and ran the benchmark again. Same results.

Again, I visited the options and looked at the video settings. For some reason, the antialiasing keeps turning itself off. Is anyone else seeing this issue?

It's a known bug. Change settings, run the demo, quit to main menu and then the settings stick (so you can run a benchmark).

Is there something wrong with my setup?

Q9300@ 3.0 GHz
5870 Crossfire (stock)
1680x1050
All setting maxed with AA/Physx off

Min: 7.5
Avg: 54.9
Max: 100.0

There are people with lesser systems getting way better than what I get.

Have you tried turning of Xfire to see if that helps?

That's certainly interesting. With it off, I got:

Min: 6.7
Avg: 65.1
Max: 125.0

I haven't read the whole thread, but I guess the game doesn't support Crossfire properly. Zerocool, what did you get? I'm curious what the difference in performance between our CPU's is. I'm also too lazy to go back through the thread and see if you posted results.
