A bit bigger, rechargable, cheaper in the long run. Even if you buy the G2, the Stinger XT is cheaper after 5 sets of batteries for the G2. This may sound like a lot of batteries, but the 123 photolithium batteries seem to go pretty quick.[/quote]
I have about 8 different mags and the only advantage is that can can be found quickly, because of their size. Work issues me a Stinger, which is not meant for any real duty. It's ok for a nightstand flashlight if you keep it charged often. I have personally purchased Surefire 9P, Z3, g2 (x2), two weaponlights and the new L1. If you want a real flashlight, as in alot of light in a hand held package get a Surefire.
Yes batteries may be a bit more, $1.25 for 123's vs. $1.00 for D's but the real use for a flashlight is light right? Well NO maglight is gonna beat a Surefire. I don't know what your usage is but I use mine at night outside alot, and I don't seem to go through them very fast at all.
Oh, not to mention the 123's will hold their charge for 10 years.
