well i bought a Doublesight DS-245W in january, i probably 'lucked' out and got one of the very last ones since DS said they sold their last stock of this monitor to Newegg, and the day after i clicked buy, it was OOS at newegg and was never available again.
the reason i got the DS-245 was becuase i really wanted a 24" or bigger, but could NOT get a TN panel due to so many limitations with any kind of work related to working on my photographs. so, going on the very positive reviews of this monitor and the samsung S-PVA panel it used (a dell monitor used it as well) - and also the positive reviews of the S-PVA technology in general, i went DS245W
well i am having major issues with it. i wasnt shooting much stuff because of the winter and moving to a new place, but now it is warmer, i am starting to shoot again, plus i have some freelance gigs on the side for some realtors now - so i start to work on my photos and have run into major issues!
this doublesight is performing terribly. ive calibrated it with a spyder2 pro. i know that isnt the best calibrator out there, but it has worked well for my gf on her dell laptop and her apple 20" display.
basically there is INSANE color banding type stuff. looks like luminance noise as well - this is the best way i can describe the things that look wrong on some shots.
so i have looked at the same photos on my gf computer - even her TN dell display does a better job, and of course the apple 20" as well. those spots that are splotchy like on my DS are fine on the DELL and apple. just to make sure it wasnt my 3870 or drivers i hooked up the 20" apple to my pc directly. SAME THING!
my gf said maybe my brightness and contrast were at fault. even dialed down to 0 or any combination of settings, same thing. those noice/colorbanding/splotching or what have you is still there in those same shots.
i emailed doublesight thursday, no response yet. tried calling today but only got VM and will try a few ore times before leaving a VM>
HELP!
as you can see from the link in my signature, i am into photography. i have been doing it as a hobbyist, selling a few prints here and there, but recently, have gotten myself some freelance gigs for a realtor and a property developer around here to shoot interiors of some of their listings - tough market and they wants to differentiate their stuff from the majority of realtors that use standard point and click shots. so this is very important i resolve this!
i dont expect a $450 monitor to be as good as a $1000 S-IPS but still, this is performing worse than a TN dell inspiron laptop monitor!
